Well...obviously it IS, because its happening. My 3 month old kitten Shaedi is in HEAT!!
I thought she had to be at least 5 months old for that?? She was born around the middle of December.

I'm taking extrodinary pains to make sure she doesn't get outside, because a pregnancy at her age would no doubt be disasterous.

How often do cats go into heat? She was barely big enough to be put under anesthesia a little while ago when she had to have her neck wound stitched up.

Oh no.. poor little thing. Wow 3 months huh?? I didnt think they could go into heat that young either. Good luck

She might be 2lbs- but if so, barely. I feel so bad for her
Poor Gibbons and Onyx (both neutered) don't know what to think.

Three months is early. Four months I've heard about but never three. Cats have different heatcycles. Some go into heat one week every months, some one week a year and of course there are those that are somewhere in between. You'll just have to study your own baby and see how her individual cycle is.
