Sukie, our 2 year old female Russian Blue cross, has shown an addiction to paper, ever since she was a kitten.  The above photo was taken six months ago, when Sukie came to join us in the sitting-room as she wanted to lie down in front of the fire.  However she did not lie in front of the fire but chose to lie on this sheet of newspaper that we had deliberately placed for her to the right of the fire.  (When she awoke, she started to nibble the corner of the newspaper.)

I was sitting on the lounge, reading the paper when Sukie came to join me.  She had seen the newspaper and made a bee-line for it.  As time wore on, I found that I was being forced off the lounge by a feline elongation so I took this photo.  She has never been a lap cat, but was happy to sit by me but only if there was a sheet of newspaper for her.

On this occasion she chose this sheet of paper besides the printer on my old examination couch.  She could have laid down on the other side of the printer, but there was no paper there.   Today, after I had printed out a file and left it in the tray, she decided to sleep on the printer itself.

With all best wishes,

Geoffrey

Brian used to make a bee line for any paper, newspaper, map, book (no matter how tiny), or cardboard to sit on.  I used to think of them as wee islands in a sea of carpet.  He had his "special" piece of cardboard in the hall, which he loved and sat on for 6 years, not continually, obviously!  People remarked that I should get him a cosy bed, but he had dozens of cozy beds in every room, he just liked his cardboard.  I think paper/cardboard warms up quickly underneath.  That and cats are notorious for wanting to help and get in on any human action.

Sukie is absolutely beautiful.  I know I shouldn't have one but grey cats are my favourite (shhh!).  Every grey cat I've known has been an oddball in the best way possible.

Andraste loves paper.

The only toys she ever pays attention to are crumpled balls of paper. And cardboard boxes sometimes, but mostly paper balls.

When I'm working, she lays down on my files and books and start pawing and nibbling the corners of the paper. When I tear off a page of my notebook, she comes running and starts meowing. The sound of paper being crumpled driver her crazy. If I leave a text or printed article anywhere, it will be her new bed. When I'm writing/drawing, she rubs her head against the pen and sits/lays on my work.

She's a quirky gal. Used to drive me mad, but now I think it's kinda cute.

My Snowshoe is the chief paperhunter in this house.  Newspaper, plain old printer paper, magazines, open books - she'll nap anywhere there's paper to be found.  Here she's preparing to take a nap on a Nuremberg Chronicle:

My cat sits on everything I use most.

Since I am on the PC most of the time, he lays in front of the monitor. Or on top of the printer.

He sits on my daughter textbooks.

Then I draw the conclusion that you read many newspapers.

Three of ours ignore paper but Ozzy loves it.  He sleeps on it if there's any around, and chews the corners of anything available--books, notepads, anything.  Silly boy.

We had a cat that LOVED paper. If my mom was reading the newspaper he would get in her lap and stomp all over it. We called it "Going for a romp in the newspaper." Quite hilarious.
