Hi everyone!

I am Valentina, 30 years old, Italian , but living in Tokyo, Japan, since almost 3 years!

And today I want to introduce you my new lovely white fur member of  family: Sophie!

She's a 2 months ragdoll kitten and she cames from a rather famous Ragdoll breeder in Japan.

I am totally new to cat, I have just experience with dog. But I always try to go deep into what I don't know.

That's why I am "studying" a lot, especially about cat's nutrition, topic which I really care.

Unfortunately Japan doesn't help in this. Japanese pet food is almost 90 % fish and rice based, and people who don't feed pet food (vey rare)

are used to feed sashimi (!!) and  boiled chicken breast mixed to wet food. No supplement, organs, bone, egg, raw, nothing of nothing.

So I don't feel supported at all by my veterinarian, who's  rather shocked by my decision to feed meat and not fish!

Anyway! A couple of pics of Sophie!

Thank you everybody for the precious work you do on this forum! :D Bye bye!

Welcome to TCS Valentina [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Your little Sophie is simply stunning!! What a sweet little doll.
I'm glad TCS has been a place of support for you. As I'm sure you've found, there are plenty of articles in the "articles" tab and threads that discuss raw feeding.
I hope we see more of your Sophie in the future and please feel welcome to participate in any discussions you'd like or start one of your own anytime!

Again...welcome!!!

Welcome!
Your kitten is really cute

Member @Norachan lives in Japan (not sure exactly where) and has a small colony of cats in an outdoor enclosure. I'm sure she would be able to help you with food to feed to your kitten.

There's a Nutrition forum here on TCS: http://www.thecatsite.com/f/64/cat-nutrition There's a subforum for raw and home cooked diets if that is something you are interested in. Supplements are a must for raw and home cooked diets.

Hello Valentina and Sophie, welcome to TCS :wavey:

Glad that you found this wonderful site where it's fully loaded with infos about cats. Feel free to ask questions and yes, Norachan should be able advise you on the food and she's like 3 - 4 hours from you.

Sophie is beautiful! Do post more of her photos ;)

Hi Sophie Chan and Valentina.

You can get some meat based cat foods in Japan. Places like Don Quixote stock Sheba shredded and Sheba pate varieties as well as KaiKan chicken, turkey and lamb flavours. My cats really like Japanese brands such as Ciao/Inaba. Some of them are fish and something else, but you can find chicken based food as well.

Check Rakuten for online bargains too. You can get really good deals there if you but a crate (24 cans) at a time.

Thank you all for your welcome replies!! :D

@Norachan , Hi! It sounds really  relaxing to live just next to Fujisan. Exactly where do you live?

Really peculiar beauty your Sophie! And very cool look :) you are doing great helping so many cats, especially in such cold place like the village you live.

And thank you for food suggestion!

Actually I am trying to avoid wet food with grains and sugars, or other not necessary stuff (like starch) and fish. And all wet food I checked from Inaba too contains some of them. Yesterday I fed for the first time Ciao chicken for kitten (just for a try ,because I was skeptical about it) and she had not nice formed poop as before.

So as for now I think I will keep to feed the grain free german Animonda kitten can.

Waiting for EZcomplete premix , and finally I'll be able to  prepare food by my self  :)

Here Sophie's hunting activity pic :p

Hi Valentina! I think it is so cool that you live in Japan. I never talk to people from there.

Raw food is a good choice, from what I have heard, though it is debatable. I say anything as close to your pets natural environment is best but who knows. Let us know how it goes!
