Basically this startedin Dec. My cat had a bone stuck in his stomach. I found that out after doing an x-ray and ultrasound.we took him to the vet and he told us to give him banana shake to remove the bone. Which we did for a week. Follow up x-ray showed no foreign body so we were relieved. But from the end of Dec till now he remains bloated. The doctors told me to give him carminative. Which I do but even that's stopped working. He also had hepatitis but that's now cured. I've taken him to alot of vets but no one has any idea why.also when x-rays were taken it showed gases in his small intestines. And now his appetite is slowly decreasing as well. Has anyone experienced this?

Hi!
And welcome to the Cat Site.  What kind of food do you feed your kitty?  Is the vet sure the bone passed?

I've been giving him cat biscuits and boiled chicken. According to the x-ray which I've done twice now there's no foreign body

Is that all he's getting?  Do you add vitamins and minerals to the boiled chicken?

I don't know what might be the cause of your kitty's bloat, but I do know that grain can definitely cause bloat plus grain is not species appropriate.  The chicken is much better but it's not nutritionally complete if it doesn't have vitamins and minerals added.

Did the bloat start with the swallowed bone?

I give him vitamin syrup. And yes it started with the bone. It's out now according to the x-rays but the bloating remains. When the foreign body was diagnosed hepatitis was too along with it but now that's cured. But the bloating remains.

How old is your kitty?  Has FIP been ruled out or considered?

I"m still kind of astonished that your vet recommended a banana shake to help the bone pass, but I'm not a vet so I don't know.  Bananas could also cause gas when you give it, but sounds like you're not giving that anymore.  What is carminative?  I've never heard of that.

He's 14 months old. Now I don't know about the banana shake.it probably worked.but that episode happened in January. I don't know about FIP what is the treatment, if you know? I know he's fully vaccinated. And carminative is this syrup that removes gases from the abdomen. It's tastes horrible so it's torture. And it's not a cure.

What vitamins are you giving? And where are you located?

FIP does not have a treatment, and it is fatal. Would be great to rule that out.

How did he injest bone?

I would get a lid for that trash can, then.  That's probably where he got that bone.  And he could eat anything from there that might hurt him or cause what is going on now, whatever it is.

You can't rule it out FIP - or anything else - but maybe your vet can find out what's going on here.  Can you take him to a different vet?

Oh the lid has been placed and any place where he can eat anything except for food is on literal lock down. And has been since that episode. And I've taken him to all the vets I can find. No one knows why.they aren't giving me a diagnosis.hence I'm asking any one and every one.

That's a very tough situation you are in.  I can sympathize.  I took my kitty to 5 different vets and none could help her.  I'm so sorry.  The information you get here is not a replacement for a professional diagnosis and treatment but I hope someone here can provide you with some helpful info.

Have you tried different food to see if he might be interested in eating?  Is he playing and using the letterbox? Drinking water?
