So I've just gotten this and I need a lot of help, one day my dad came home joking that he had gotten me a cat, this cat was a black and white gorgeous little cat and of course I got excited and gave it some milk (i know this is bad) then I heard it wasn't mine and put him outside, he sat on my car coming back and forth for the next few days and kept sneaking in my house, now he just strolls in whenever and when I put him out he doesn't seem to go home, he's owners are nice people but are busy and don't seem to feed him as he comes in starving and at night when I'm locking up he runs in scared to death of the night and I am forced to either leave him out in the cold or keep him in my kitchen because of the neighborhood fox, I don't know what to do I love this cat to bits now but I know it's not mine. Give me your thoughts

One option: first, talk to your Father and ask his feelings about having a cat in the house as a permanent member of the Family.  Assuming that he agrees, talk over with him the negotiation process through which you'd have to manage getting your neighbour's approval for taking their cat in full time.  If Dad agrees, your neighbour might simply agree to let you take the cat, given the circumstances.  If the neighbour has children who are attached to the cat, you might consider offering visitation in exchange for your full time care.  If you do enter into negotiations, stress the cat's safety, and your willingness to provide for that cat, and make the current owner aware that the cat is already seeking refuge with you.  No doubt, others here will offer varying views.

Your dad's trick wasn't to funny...

I always help them out when it's needed mine or not.

Some cats can be co-owned if it's all harmonious between everyone...
