Hi everyone

So there is a feral cat that I am feeding everyday, she spends most of her time in my open garage. She really trusts me a lot and even asks for petting. I spayed her about 3 weeks ago.

I have been feeding her wet food, however the store that I used to buy the canned food from stopped selling , and other stores are really expensive. ( I don't live in USA, pet food is not easily available in my country)

So I am thinking of trying dry food, the store sells these brands (Meow Mix and Nutra Nuggets,Happy Cat, Happy Cat Minkas), I am not sure which one to choose?

I was told to in another thread to stay away from Meow Mix. The seller told me that Happy Cat brand is a good one. Is it really good quality ?

The short answer is not really, though there are worse ones.  The long answer is that  wheat, corn (that's what Maize is, and any company, *especially* one using that name outside the US (where people at least have the cultural background to probably know that the original name for corn is maize isn't one I'd trust, even without the wheat and corn.)

Ideally you want a food that is grain free (no corn, rice, wheat, and for that mater, though it isn't a grain, soy), with a protein content over 30 ( preferably over 35%).

A few that are okay off the top of my head are: Taste of the wild, evo, canidae grain free chicken, solid gold, and Fromm.  Some on that list are better than others, but they're all  worlds better than a food with so high a grain content.

hmmm Unfortunately I cant' find any stores selling the brands you listed.

I only found the following brands : Meow Mix, Nutra Nugget,, Friskies & Happy Cat.

I was told stay away from Meow Mix and Friskies. So I am left with Nutra Nugget and Happy Cat to choose from !

I am not sure which one is better?

The happy cat looks a little better than nutra nugget, and is much better than meow mix and Friskies dry.    The  good thing about it is that nearly all the protein in it comes from animal sources (which *IS* good).  The problem is hat it has a *LOT* of grains ( It doesn't say precisely, but it looks like probably around half of the food is grains).

You wont' instantly kill your cat with the happy cat (it is a little better than what most people feed their cats and when I was younger I fed one cat worse food for most of her 18 years of life),  but if you want good food, you may want to go to a different store or order it online ( lots of us get our cat food online and it works out well.)

I, again,  suggest looking online for better, and grain free food, but of the options listed, I'd lean towards their http://www.happycat.de/en/cat-food/dry-food-cat-indoor-weide-lamm/  because it has more protein (though the words "meat meal" make me a bit wary), less grains, and a lot of the grains it does have are rice (which is generally considered a bit better than wheat)

Hello there ! I feed my cat Happy Cats Weide Lamm. Usually I'll buy 1kg and it'll only last for approximately 2 weeks. Then I change to Taste of the Wild Rocky Mountain (deer) for another 2 weeks. So far, my cat loves his food so much and his health is good. My cat is not so interested in chicken or fish based kibbles. He'll eat only when he's really hungry So that's why i chose lamb & deer So, byfar, happy cats & taste of the wild are good for my cat. Hope my review help eventhough i'm too late
