Hello everyone,

I am new to the thread, but I didnt have anywhere else to turn to. My cat, Coco, is having some GI troubles. It started when I took a vacation for about 13 days. I left him at home with a close friend of mine that stayed with him except when she went to work. He was doing fine up until the 11th day when he suddenly refused to eat any food or drink any water. When I got back from vacation, I took Coco to the vet immediately and had his blood drawn for a test. He was a bit dehydrated so I kept him over night to have some IV fluids and monitor his food intake. They did additional blood work the next day and everything came out fine, but he still wasnt eating, but I brought him home anyways. I tried to hand feed him and nothing worked so again I went to the hospital and kept him there for three days. They did Xray and sonograms and different tests for worms or parasites, but again everything came out clean. I came tothe conclusion he was stressed from me being away for so long. I bought a feliway diffuser and forced fed him royal canin babycat insentive since it was in paste form and thats what the hospital used as well. Im happy to say Coco is eating on his own, but still refuses to eat his dry food. I know wet is better, but for some reason all kinds of wet food gives him diarrhea. I have given his different kinds of wet food and even tried to slowly transition but mixing a little with his fancy feast roasted chicken, but he wont go near it and so I give up because i figure its way better than him not eating at all. Ive tried raw diet and he wont go near it all sorts of canned wet food and again he wont eat it. His diarrhea has been going on for about a week now and I dont know what to do anymore. The vet says there is nothing really physically wrong and maybe he has an allergy, but I have tried so many different types of food and either he wont eat it or it gives him diarrhea. Please help, I am so lost.

You might try mixing about 2 tsp of canned pumpkin in with Coco's food.   Use the pure kind without all of the spices.   Pumpkin can help with both diarrhea and constipation - check out this thread for more info:  http://www.thecatsite.com/t/244415/canned-pumpkin

Have you experimented with different dried foods?  It might be that Coco is just tired of the one he's been eating.

Welcome to you and Coco, btw!

You could also try a single source protein food, not fish or chicken.  Add in a good probiotic and see if that helps his gut.

Thank you both for your replies!

I tried probiotics and he wont go near the stuff, he hides under the bed when I try to give it to him.

For the pumpkin, I currently live in Asia and its so hard to find canned pumpkin, but ill try to look for it again!

Thanks again for the replies!!
