The cat will appreciate fresh water and warm places to the time the vet will come.

Take care!

With a big weight loss like that, be prepared that something is wrong, diabetes, kidney failure, etc. so many things that  can happen to a senior cat.She may be missing your mom too, and is not eating because she is upset.  Mine has lost a tremendous amount of weight too, but he keeps going on,(for two years now) happy and playing, so as long as he does I just love him and do the best I can to make him happy. It may be something that can be handled with diet or medication, she may just have an infection going on, so pray and don't lose hope. I'll pray for your little girl, give her a kiss for me, and just love her all you can right now,

Apart from the vet advise (that should be followed strictly), or after baby regaining some power, you may attempt assisting her in drinking and feeding:

Drinking

1) Put fresh water in a bowl of large opening - larger than cat's whiskers - only fresh tap water

2) Then gently drive the cat forefront paw to touch the water surface (do not force!)

3) Then wait for the cat to drink (do not push!); be patient.

Feeding

1) Buy good quality wet food for juniors  or kitten (that has very little size) - the smallest you can find

2) Pick a clean, very clean large dish -wash it carefully by tap water only

3) Put a teaspoon of food in the middle of the dish, making a sort of "mountain"

4) Gently drive the cat to the dish and wait (do not push!)

Please accept my admiration for your committment and my best wishes for baby!  Love is the best med.

You might try some really smelly food too to tempt her, like tuna or mackerel. Make sure either is packed in water or brine, not oil. Offer kitten food like what was mentioned above, it has much more calories. She may have been missing your mom, too, so maybe give her a little extra attention now. When my 16 year old stops eating, which is getting to be much more frequent, I give him special treats, like Arbey's roast beef, or a hamburger patty from McDonald's. At this stage of life it is whatever gets them eating again. I get cat Pill pockets form Amazon and tear a little piece off to 'cement' his broken up pills to a piece of bacon, that is the only way I can get him to take them without stress. A package of cooked bacon bits lasts quite a while in the fridge. Try to find a small aquarium pump at a garage sale or pet shop and put it in a deep dish of water to aerate it and make it bubble, it fascinates them and encourages drinking. Though at first it may scare them a little, so offer two bowls of water for a while, one without teh pump.  Please know I'm sending you both my prayers, whatever comes in the future, know you are not alone!

baby  is  not  as  sick  as  we  thought    she  has  a  uti    that  is  why  she  been  drinking  or  eating  well  they  put  an  iv in  her  today  to  try  to  get  some  fluids  into  her
We'll try to get her back to posting.

Cats don't normally eat one meal per day.  Their natural way is to return several times a day to their prey, if they are able to.  I feed my cats 3 times per day, a total of 5.5 oz. or 6 oz. of wet food each, with fresh water and high-quality dry food free choice.  4 oz. is not enough food for a cat.  Please if you are able, feed her more food.
