Wet Food - Brand Comparison

My cat was raised on IAMS canned food but started throwing it up a few months ago. The vet had us try him on baby food (meat protein), all of which he "stomachs" just fine.

Can you recommend one (or more of a) good/ healthy canned food(s) for me to try him on?

Felidae, Active Life, some Fancy Feast flavors (fish and shrimp is one of their best), Natural Balance by Dick Van Patten are some good brands to consider.

Also: Wellness, Solid Gold ( although I've only found tuna), Chicken Soup for the cat lover's soul, Innova

i mostly lurk, but thought i would add that my cats love Petguard canned foods. everyone likes it and it doesn't cause digestive upset.

My one cat goes nuts for Precise wet food. He also loves Pet Guard and Innova...all of these health food brands are a lot better than Iams or Science Diet...

I forgot to mention that Simon can't stomach Fancy Feast.

Where do you (as in all of you who've posted) purchase such "elite" cat food brands? PetsMart/ Pet Supplies Plus does not carry them. The only pet food store near me that might is a bit far to travel.

I mostly recommend Innova. Sierra enjoys that one the most and it has great ingredients. So does Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul, but Sierra doesn't enjoy it as much. She also enjoys Spot's Stew sometimes. I used to give her Petguard, but found the others to be higher in nutrition. I purchase these foods from Sierra's holistic vet. You can also order off the websites!

Natural Balance is byfar the healthiest, but probably the priciest. I get a medium sized can for $1.75!!! My kitties love it though, they can't stomach anything else...

You can get Natural Balance at Petco and you should be able to find Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul and Solid Gold at Pet Supplies Plus.

Jenk: I forgot to mention that you may be able to find some high quality pet foods at Human Health food stores....many of them seem to also carry healthy pet foods. If you have any of these in your area maybe you can check there too.

Natural Balance sounds great! We've never tried it. There isn't a Petco in my area, where else may it be available? Do they have a website?

When did Petco start selling Natural Balance and Wysong? I wish I had a Petco near me. We only have PetsMart here in Canada!

I'm not sure just when my area's petco began selling Natural Balance, but it's been over a year for sure. Mine does not carry Wysong...wish it did!

My Petco does'nt carry Wysong either but they've sold Natural Balance for at least 3 years because I was going to put my dog on it when I was switching her to adult food....Petco was the only store I'd ever seen it at.

Wow, I just serve my cats Friskies, 9-Lives and Figaro. They seem to enjoy it a lot.

I tried some diet dry cat food once (Science Diet Light) but the heaviest cat just ate three times as much of the dry food LOL.

I like wellness the best, awesome ingredients plus spirulina which is an immune system booster. Hard to find though

My kitties have never tried Wellness wet food. I have looked at the ingredients though, awesome food! My kitties were loving Nutro until they started animal testing. I find that Natural Balance has the most balanced wet food, I mean balanced as in meat/vegetables. If you buy their Ultra Formula, you can actually see the chunks of carrots, so you know that the food is mostly meat.

Fancy Feast is another one their favorites. They love the Grilled Beef and Cod, Shrimp and Sole foods. Solid Gold makes awesome wet food too! I have only seen in sold in one pet store, but it is SO pricey!
