Good morning.

What are you fussy about? Is there some thing you like done in a particular way or some product that you are really fussy about which brand you buy?

If you asked Mr Husband that question about me he'd probably tell you I'm fussy about everything, from the way the towels are folded to which shelf which kind of cat food is stored on.I don't think I'm that particular about things, it's just that my way of doing it is better than his.

One thing I will admit to being fussy about is toilet paper. I only ever buy one brand (the most expensive kind) and it has to be the white with blue flowers, not white with pink flowers or the pale green or blue paper. I'm all for trying to save money on store's own brands of products, but I can't stand cheap toilet paper.

Only the best will do!

How about you?

The kitchen. I like a clean and organized kitchen. The counters must be wiped and everything must be put away properly. Since I'm the chief cook, I want to be able to find the knife I need, the spatula I need, the measuring spoons I need without searching all over the place. The other night I was looking for a paring knife and it wasn't where it should be. I was looking all over the place until I asked Rick what he did with it. He said, "Oh, I just put in this drawer." But it doesn't go there; it goes here.  I can deal with messiness every other place in the house.....well, OK, no I can't, not really.
I do like a clean house, I really do. But especially the kitchen needs to be clean and I need to be able to grab what I need when I need it without a lot of hassle.

I'm not too fussy about brands anymore, not like I used to be. I don't have a lot of brand loyalty anymore. Rick wants Heinz Ketchup only, Crest toothpaste only, Listerine mouthwash only. I'm all for King Arthur flour, but will use Gold Medal in a pinch. I'm really trying to think about it and I do think that's pretty much it. I don't care about toilet paper as long as it's fairly soft. Paper towels should be absorbent, but the only thing we really use paper towels for anymore is cat puke.

I'm fussy about everything too :lol3: The toilet paper has to be on the holder a certain way (so it feeds out from the back, not the front), the chopping board has to be a certain way round on the worktop, the cushions and pillows have to be in specific positions on my bed... That's what instantly comes to mind, but there's a ton of other stuff too :lol3:

Before I got sick I was REALLY fussy about everything to do with horse care too - right down to how the field got cleared (just like a litterbox, horse fields need clearing of poop at least once a day). I HATE the bedding mum uses for my pony now (the old one is no longer made  ), but can't demand that she changes because she does most of the mucking out these days :anon:

ummm well some things..but can't think of anything at the moment other than how the roof gets shoveled...he always scrapes down to the shingles..you are not supposed to go down to tar. supposed to keep 3 inches or so. so the shingles don't get damaged. He is not allowed up there anymore. I do it all by myself. But not at once.

We only use bounty towels. I use them to clean. I hate sponges and dish rags. they work great for getting the dust up off the floor from the air system. I use them on the floors in the bath and kitchen. they work good for wiping down counters...I rinse it then drape it over the middle divider in the sink then it dries and I reuse it-I make a mess when I cook..so I need ALOT of paper towels..

toilet paper-I am not fussy but Jon is..he only likes fancy expensive thick stuff. I hate it because it clogs the pipes and I prefer the thinner stuff for ease of plumbing. It's kind of funny-we put it with paper rolling out on outside..hate it the other way.

Ritz crackers-no other brand compares. I don't care who says the generic is the same-no! just like diet coke..nothing like  cold diet coke.

I am picky about how the vacuuming gets done..I use the smaller vacuum because you can get under and around furniture-he uses his that has a wide heavy head but it doesn't get the crap up against the wall like mine does...cat litter seems to go against the wall/carpet..

I have a certain way I have things in my front of my truck-he always puts stuff up on the dash which drives me crazy because all I see is the reflection of paper..and I have a clipboard with a big clip clipped on a piece of fabric otherwise everything slides off when I come to a stop. I am not as tidy in my truck. I have some things I need to toss=old papers I wrote on, newspaper clippings but never have food wrappers or cans or anything food related in there except for a box of crackers-those snack ones= I buy that huge 30 pack one at market basket and keep it in the truck otherwise I will eat them all. He is always moving stuff around when he sits in the passenger seat which drives me batty but I try hard to not make a big deal about it.

I try to be more flexible the older I get..but it's hard.

My husband would say I'm awfully fussy about the brands of ketchup I'll eat - it has to be Heinz, with Kraft coming in second. I really don't like the German/European brands, which taste like tomato paste, and go so far as to carry Heinz ketchup in my handbag when we're traveling. He finds that extremely embarrassing. :lol3:

Great Question of the Day!  When my kids were little they watched the tv show, Full House, and used to call me Danny Tanner.
Looking back I guess I kind of was like him.  I liked the beds to be made first thing in the morning and everything in it's proper place.  But when we adopted our dog all of that went out the window and it taught me to be more flexible.  I'm actually thankful for that because I became more relaxed about the house.  However, the one thing I am still fussy about is putting the silverware in the right slots of the dishwasher, e.g. all the forks have to go in the fork slot, spoons, knives, etc.  I guess I'd have to say the room I am the fussiest about is the bathroom.  I can't stand for the vanity to be dirty or messy and I always squeegee the shower.  I finally got DH to do it too.

As far as brands, I am loyal to certain brands but since so many of them have been bought out by big companies I've noticed the quality has changed.  The brands I am still loyal to are: Advil for aches & pains, Pronamel toothpaste for sensitivity, Zest soap, All laundry detergent and Joy (lemon) dish washing liquid.

I am not too fussy about many things.  I do keep the kitchen and bathroom clean as a health thing.  For brands I do use Tide detergent with original scent, Hellman's mayo and Estee Lauder skincare, foundation and blush.   I always get Greek yogurt now instead of regular yogurt.

I guess I am kind of fussy on brand names. Dawn dish soap, Bounty paper towels are the best.. Downy fabric softener.

toilet paper goes in with hanging piece in front. I always make my bed, daily. Love not to have dishes in the sink, to wash...

Artie's box always need to be scooped almost immediately.. I change the decorations in the living area for the season, and the table cloth.. always have something decorative hanging on my apartment door. Have to have a rocking chair to sit on...

Yes, Heinz ketchup, Hellmans mayo, ... have to have cheese in the house, and peanut butter..oh yes, Trader Joes Greek Yogurt..

can't think of anything else..but I know I will...

Having ten cats rather precludes being particularly 'fussy' about appearances, I suppose.  I've had the same tailor for 45 years if that counts....

This, yes!

Tom makes me insane when he puts things away. They never wind up where they should be.  We've been living in this house for over 7 years. When we redid the kitchen, I very specifically set up the drawers/cabinets exactly the way I wanted them.  For instance, there are two narrow lower cabinets flanking the oven. The one to the left, is frying pans and their covers.  The one to the right, is for pots and their covers and, a few baking items.  Then, there is a corner cabinet between the sink and the garbage cabinet.  It has a spinner in it.  That is for miscellaneous things like plastic containers, microwavable cookware (and their covers), colanders, etc.

He will almost always put the glass cover to the microwavable cooking bowl in with the metal pots.  I don't know why.  I am sure I've told him a hundred or more times that isn't where it goes.

Or, he'll misplace vital cooking instruments like my microplane grater.  He leaves cabinets open after taking things out of them. I wake up to spilled jelly on the counters all the time.  Sometimes even on the floor. It's like he has some kind of mental and visual block.

It isn't like he's not helping out either. He does the dishes probably more than I do.  But geez, how difficult is it to just put things away and clean up after yourself?

Mind you I am no model of cleanliness or neatness but the kitchen is my sanctuary and I want it treated like one!

Not really a lot.  Or maybe a lot, but odd stuff.  MUST be Charmin TP, double ply.  I canNOT leave dishes in the sink for any time at all.  By the time I sit down to eat, the prep dishes and pots and pans are in the drainer.  Toilet gets cleaned sometimes twice or even three times a day (but it is the only place where Hekitty will reliably drink water, so there you go), all my paperwork gets scanned into my computer and the originals are shredded as they come in the mail.  I save hair and fingernail sweepings/clippings and burn them outside once a week (I know, that's VERY odd, but there are reasons).  I keep detailed records of my books, and when new ones come in, I won't even read them until they have been "processed in" properly.  I cannot tolerate kitchen cabinets being opened.  See, odd stuff.

So that no one steals them and makes a voodoo dolly of you?

Actually, something like, although those who are far more conversant with voodoo would tell you that the dolls may be made for any purpose, and that those made for healing, prosperity and love are FAR more numerous (although far more boring and therefore not good press) than those made for crossing (or hexing, if you will).  And the dolls are not restricted to voodoo.  Most nature-based folk religions have some version of them. They are used to link a working to a specific person.  In the British Isles, they are most commonly referred to as "poppets."  I live in an area where "root doctors" and "yarb women" are still sought out and hired,  I also have a neighbor who has been known to seek such people out and who is incensed that I got to move into a two-bedroom apartment.  I don't trust her.  So, yeah...I burn them.  Not taking the chance.

I read in a book/novel, which was very well researched, The main character was taught in infancy to clean her hair brush daily, and throw the hair in the toilet and flush immediately... same with nail clippings...

Add me to those with brand loyalty to Tide and Heinz Ketchup.   I'm also pretty loyal to Diet Coke although Diet Pepsi is okay in a pinch.  I almost never drink, but when I do, the gin has to be Tanqueray.   And I admit to being a Mac person, through and through when it comes to computers.

As for things that have to be just so: the linen closet. When my MIL stayed with me after my daughter was born, it was all I could do to not refold all the sheets until she left.

...with the cats...
i'm not brand-loyal at all. i'll try less expensive and/or store brands, and if i like them then fine -- and i most times do like them. i'd say i'm a tad bit particular about toilet paper -- must be 2-ply and reasonably soft, without costing a fortune. i do still buy bounty paper towels, the select-a-size kind. i use these almost exclusively for cleaning up cat stuff -- over the edge and onto the tray beneath the litter pan urine, hairballs, and 'cling-ons'. i've tried 'off' brands of paper towels, but have found them to be unsatisfactorily absorbent.

in our home, i operate on the thought that 'there's a place for everything, and everything (is put) in it's place'. this works for me because (1) i'm the only human living here, and (2) i know exactly where things are a good 98% of the time.

I'm not fussy when it comes to house cleaning. I won't tolerate someone leaving dirty dishes in the sink and the paper towels and TP must go over the top not underneath the roll. When I was working it would make me so mad to go in the kitchen and find dishes in the sink.

I pretty much use only brand names. Bounty, Dawn, and Kraft etc. I've also started buying a lot of organic food and household products. They are more expensive but I feel better using them when I can.

Ah, I remember having to muck out a whole field. I have it so much easier now with just a few litter boxes.

I remember our riding instructor teaching us how to make a deep, straw bed for the pony with the straw banked up the walls to keep out drafts. The pony I used to look after would always come in, scrape his bedding into a pile, pee on it and then lie down.

I thought I'd be a little less fussy once I got to this many cats, but if anything it's made me worse.

I once saw a collection of poppets at the Pitt Rivers museum. They were rather unnerving little things.

It makes sense, I guess. No point taking any chances.
