A couple of months ago Charlie broke a lamp in our family room. Ordered a new one from Lamps Plus which should be delivered on Monday.

So far charlie has broken a lamp and a picture frame. He's on a roll! They say everything happens in threes. Let's see what's next.

Tried to post a pic of the lamp but it didn't work.

You can try using museum putty to keep breakable objects from being knocked off tables. It may work for floor lamps, too.

Artie has broken a lamp, tried to break another lamp and had an unusual fascinating interest in a small item I keep on my entertainment center..

I bought some Museum glue which has solved the problem with the table item..

Regarding the lamp.. I gave up and bought a floor lamp, instead of a table lamp.. it has served it's purpose...

Question: What exactly is museum glue. It it something that glues the lamp to the table so it can't be knocked over? If so, will it damage the surface of the table?

It's a putty-like substance that holds items firmly to a surface. It's' removable and won't damage surfaces at all. Musuems and other places use the putty frequently for items on full display in high traffic areas.  There are various brands. Here is one:

Yes, You can get museum putty at Amazon or you can pick it up at a Home Depot or Lowes...

it really does work.. and it does not harden..

Just to let you know we stopped at Home Depot this morning and bought Museum Putty. Lamp should be here this Tuesday --- looks like this will be perfect. Said it is "earthquake resistant" --- I guess I can assume it is also "Hurricane Charlie resistant">

Thanks again for the advice. This will be perfect.
