Hi, I lost my boy Hermes yesterday. He was 16, came home from work he was laying on his blanket, he wouldn't get up. I tried to stand him up and he fell over. I rushed him to the vet, he kept whimpering and crying the entire time. Hermes never yelled out in pain, if he did it must of been when it happened and I was at work. The Vet said that his abdomen was not right, felt like a large tumor also his eyes were dragging and his gums were white. I noticed in the car ride to the vet, his back legs were straight, like completely straight. I never felt them to see if they were cold, but they were rigid. My boy also couldn't keep his head straight up, he just kept whimpering. The Vet never mentioned thrombus, but as I am piecing it together in my mind I believe that is what he had. So has anyone else had their cat with the thrombus diagnosis but never yell out in pain?

Hi, and welcome to TCS! I'm so sorry it's under such sad circumstances :alright:

I lost my old boy to a thrombus a week ago today. In his case, it impacted on his spinal cord, leaving him paralysed from the waist down. He didn't cry once - it was the thud of him hitting the floor that alerted me.

I remember, too, that one of my childhood cats had a stroke, and he didn't cry out in pain either. As Hermes's eyes were dragging too, I suspect he had a stroke rather than a saddle thrombus. Both are blood clots, just in different areas.

:rbheart: Rest in peace, Hermes, you gorgeous boy :rbheart:
