My foster kitten had a watery eye since I got him a week ago.
I have eye ointment I got at the vet for an infection but it is not helping at all.
The eye lid is a litter red but there is no discharge or crust it is just really teary.
His eye is clean I checked to see if there might be a little hair or something that might irritate the eye but non of that.
If just a little concerned because it's not getting any better and I don't know what to do too help.

Poor little kitten if that watery eye isn't feeling better.  :(

Was there some yellow / green to the eye discharge initially that the vet thought there was some infection?

It might be worth you talking to the vet and taking your kitten back in for them to take another look at the eye.  The vet most likely checked for blocked tear ducts, but one other reason cats and kittens can get watery eyes but no sign of a bacterial infection is if they have feline herpes affecting one or both eyes.  The vet can look closely at the eye and should be able to see tiny little ulcers on the eye if this is the cause.   Sometimes there are other signs of the virus, including sneezing or coughing, but this doesn't always happen.   If the watering is due to herpes virus then antibiotics don't help with getting better unless there is a secondary bacterial infection, and the best thing you can do is to keep your kitten as stress free and boost their immune system with good food as much as you can.

I hope you find out what is causing this soon and you see this little foster happy and well really fast.

There is no yellow or green. It's clear. Like just tears . I will take the kitten in as soon as possible. He doesn't sneeze or cough. He seems pretty happy. He eats a lot and he is very playful.

Thank you for the info and help [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Is there a medication for herpes that the vet can provide?

If your vet does see evidence that the watery eye is likely to be due to the herpes virus and no bacterial infection they might suggest trying an anti-viral medication, or L Lysine that many believe helps to suppress the virus to shorten outbreaks of symptoms and reduce the number of times it manages to break out.  Alternatively they might feel that your kitten is reasonably healthy and their immune system will manage to get through any current outbreak of symptoms and let it take its course.

My experience with the antiviral medication with Mousei was much as the vets predicted, which was that it didn't seem to make any difference - and much of the medical research suggests this is the case unless the drugs are used very rapidly in the first outbreak.   They then agreed I try L Lysine short term when symptoms were present to see if that helpd but with Mouse I again didn't see a difference in how long the eye watering lasted.  I do tend to give him the L Lysine for the period his eye waters and about a week following it though as I feel it could be supporting his body in fighting the virus back.  There are differing views on the use of L Lysine though and I follow my vet's advice and do not give it to Mouse long term.

Thank you so much for all this info.
Little Loki's eye is constantly watery tho. I can clean it now and then 5 sec it starts to water havent seen his eye without water. I also did some research and it said that other cats can get it aswell.. Loki had a brother Blaze. They share the same litter box and water bowl and play all the time and he doesnt seem to have any symptoms of the virus. I will be taking my other kittens to the vet for deworming then i will take him with just to make sure.
I will have a look at the link you sended.
Thank you again.

Sounds like little Loki and your other kittens are very lucky being with you:  well cared for and getting vet attention to make sure they are as healthy as they can be.   I hope you see Loki's eye dry up and be healthy very soon.

Awww thank you . I always try my best. I dont always have transportation to the vets so I always ask for something to make it a bit better untill I can get to the vet unless its really important. Ive made an appt. for monday and will be taking all my foster cata so that they can also have a check up just incase. Thank you for all the info. I really hope that its not herpes and just a Pink eye.

Dont think any one will adopt a kitten with a herpes virus that never goes away and thats contagious to other cats
