Hi, Need a bit if advice, please. Oscar our long haired cat developed bad mats under his belly and around his shoulders, we had to send him to the vet to get sedated and all his mats clipped away. What we need to do is find a decent comb/brush to try to stop the mats reappearing. There are lots on the internet but thought I would ask here for advice from people who actually own cats....Thanks

I bought the Furminator, which works quite well at removing mats, but I have found it pulls on the mat and must hurt a little bit.  I, too, am curious on this, I'll be watching this post to see which one is deemed the best too. My fifteen year old is developing a lot of mats and unkept hair because of a disinterest in grooming now, he pulls a lot of these mats out by himself if I don't. The problem with him is he has a very heavy undercoat, I have never had a cat with a coat like his, so it is really hard to maintain it even though it is not long. Good luck!
