So I just returned puppies I was fostering, was really overwhelmed when I decided to take in another kitten, but now I'm dealing with my two cats loving the kitten food and my kitten having no interest in his own food, the friend who gave me the kitten was feeding him cheap food and I slowly switched it over....

Its not dangerous to taste some.  But he will get too little of nutrients with adult cat food, or cheap cat food.   Among others, too little taurin and too little fat.    If he is really fond of adult cat food, you can perhaps compensate some?  Minced meat as taurin source, and some fat source, alike egg yolks, and or a drop or two of coldpressed rapeseed / canola oil.   Or melted in butter.

Perhaps feed them separately for now, and be sure to make dry kitten chow available 24/7.

It is frequently a problem that resident cats will want to eat the kitten food. I usually give up, and everyone eats the same until the kitten is old enough to switch to adult food.
