My cat was fine on Monday . She usually has a steroid injection once a year as she has a phase of pulling her fur out. She is a chinchilla Persian. I didn't know but the injection she was given on Monday was different to usual.  It was also injected into her leg.  Yesterday afternoon my partner rang me to say she had weed herself and couldn't walk and was breathing badly. He rushed her back to the vet. She is still there. Extremely ill. I have no idea if she will even live now. She was a spritely 13 year old and very happy and now I see her weak and can hardly breathe. I'm blaming myself now for taking her as she was fine and now will die.

When I spoke to the vets last night they were unsure if she has a clot in that leg.  I'm worried sick and haven't slept.  Does anyones cat recover from this? I will never forgive myself for letting her have it even though I wasn't aware what it was.

Oh, no! I can't tell you anything about cats & steroid injections, but I did try a corticosteroid shot and had a bad reaction to it - itchy bumps all over and trouble breathing, then swelling of my hands, feet & face. I did (obviously) recover just fine but I felt terrible for about 3 days.  Please don't blame yourself or feel guilty - you trusted your kitty to the care of a professional and sometimes these things happen.

I am sure you will get better responses from other members here! I just wanted you to know that I will keep you & your little princess in my prayers and thoughts....and welcome to TCS!  ~ susan

Finally have our Cat home .This has been one of the worst 24 hours of my life and hers.   The vets did a heart scan and as I suspected it was normal. Really annoyed. She went in with a simple skin complaint and nearly died.  The vets wont admit to giving a drug to her that I didn't know she hadn't had before. I presumed it was the usual steroid injection she always has when she has a skin irritation about once a year or to two years.  I feel awful.  £400 for your cat to nearly die isn't nice either financially or otherwise. I will never ever let her have that again.  She weed herself in the car on the way home and had to go in the shower. poor thing.
