Hello

So my friend's mom is forcing her cat to finish all his food when he's not hungry!  He's already overweight and I don't get why they are doing this.  I know it's none of my business but I don't know if it's ok.  She is forcing them to eat all their food!  They are doing this because they have 2 cats and the other one wants to eat cat 1's food but they want to keep cat 1 and cat 2 separate.  I don't know if this is ok and I can't say anything because I'm only 13 and they won't listen to me.  Is it ok to force feed your cat when they already ate their fill and are overweight?  They know they are overweight.  Thanks!

Sounds like they may be feeding him too much in general. They definitely should not be force feeding their cat. Often cats graze, eat a little and then come back later for more. If their other cat is trying to eat his food then they should find a way to separate them. Or just feed the one they are currently force feeding smaller amounts but more regularly. To me it sounds like they are just being lazy in caring for their pet.

Cats generally cannot be coerced or shamed into eating like dogs can. Unless they're putting the food in his mouth and making him swallow I don't think they're force-feeding him. Do they make him stay in a room until he eats it all? That's a fairly common way of giving meals when cats have to be fed separately in multi-cat homes.

Overweight?

What food? Commercial? Home-made?

@RagdollLove You really need to explain what you mean about force-feeding the cat.  As Willowy pointed out, it would be a pretty difficult and cruel thing to attempt to do.
