Hello!

I'm Pyewacket, the Norwegian Forest Cat.  I'm convincing (claws out, chirping loudly), ok, forcing my human to type this in.

Every time he makes a mistake, I head butt him and chirp even louder, and maybe pounce his toes.  He'll learn eventually.  He is, after all, only a human.

Anyway, this is me when I was just 16 weeks old.  My human calls it the 'cuddle the monitor' pose.  I don't know what it means, but I consistently hear 'awwww!'.  What is this 'awww?'.  Explain it to me hiuman!

I'm a rather sophisticated cat, and tend to ponder the  meaning of the universe.

Important things like:

Will I get dried shrimp treats?  Or liver and beef?  Can I get both?

Will I ever get that elusive feather under that blanket?

Why does mommy yell in shock when I pounce and nibble her toes under the blanket?

What are those furry long eared things in MY yard and why can't I chase them when I go out on walks?

Why do humans fail to pet me every waking moment?  What is this ... work... that my father does... he says it's to help buy me cat food, so I guess I'll let him... for now...

Why do my humans look at me strangely when I start to open these mystical cans of fish with my claw on the pull tab?  Why do they keep them in a locked cupboard now?

I shall continue to ponder...

Chirps and meows,

--Pyewacket

Thank you for the reply!

My name is Jace, my wife is Regina.  We've been married over 20 years.

Wife's a seamtress and milliner (hat maker, specializing in top hats).

I'm in computers, a system architect and security specialist.

Pyewacket is a certified Norwegian with papers.  We fell in love with the breed and couldn't resist, especially after our heart was hurting so much with the loss of our Smokey at the age of 20y, 3m (A partial Bombay we got at a shelter)

Here's our Smokey at 18 1/2 years old.

We have a lot of past times, sometimes playing games, sometimes watching anime, a lot of times walking our Pyewacket outside, especially when it lightly rains or snows.  He loves snow, always likes to pounce snow piles.

The name Pyewacket came from the movie 'Bell, Book, and Candle'.  It's a fantastic movie starring James Stewart, Kim Novak, and Pyewacket, an absolutely gorgeous Siamese.

Per the movie, Pyewacket bonded to Kim Novak so much she was allowed to keep the fur-butt after the movie was filmed.

The cat apparently would never leave her alone and would be distressed when not in her company (per the rumors).

I strongly recommend any cat lover to watch that movie.  It's one of the best, and Pyewacket won a PATSY award for the film.  Apparently a rare award.

Here's Pyewacket relaxing on his tree-perch.

Hey gang, Pyewacket reached his 2 year mark and figured I'd post a pic for his celebration.
A very Happy 2nd Birthday, Pyewacket! :party2: Your picture was so stunning that I just had to share it with my husband - absolutely handsome. :cutecat:

Pyewacket is a handsome boy.

How big is he?

Experts here said my boys, (in avatar), were likely norwegian forest cat mixes. At 2 years old, greg and arnold were about 16 and 19 lbs.

They are about 6 years old now and are about 20 and 23 lbs.

I love the big breeds.

Our boy, depending on the season, gets between 18 1/2 and 20 pounds right now.

Vet believes he'll hit a bit over 25 pounds when he's full grown.
