I am so glad I joined this group/site...Just read an older post about how much a cat should have for syringe feeding. So tomorrow I know how much my injured recovering kitty should be eating in a day. I have been so worried about my male cat Coy who about 10 days ago was attacked by a stray dog right by my back door.  He has 2 bad bite wounds I am cleaning once a day and putting drops in twice a day per my vets instructions. He gave me Hills Science A/D  6 cans of it. He also gave him a antibiotic shot that last 2 weeks. My poor cat has just now of the last 2 days tries to eat little bits of wet food here and there. he does drink water on his own and uses the litter box, but it seems to be a slow recovery for him. But this site, reading that post cleared up the syringe feeding for me. I have prayed every day he will get better with eating more on his own...before this dog attack he was a great eater it breaks my heart to see him struggling to get back to him.  Wish me luck

I'm so sorry your poor boy Coy was attacked like that. It sounds like you're giving him good care, and I hope his appetite comes back soon. What about an anti nausea med? That may help him start eating again. How's he doing today?

Thank you so much for your caring and asking about my kitty...This morning I gave him almost 23 milliliters of assisted syringe food cause he only ate a bite or 2. but then he slept for awhile and around 1 came out the kitchen and meowed so I offered some wet pasty food he ate a spoonful, so It gives me hope that he slowly getting better and that just maybe I am doing okay helping in his recovery. He also used the cat scratcher  and rubbed on me and endured some petting,& walked around a little. So to me it means some recovery is going on...yay.
