I like a lot of veggies: tomatoes, cucumbers, summer squash, asparagus, spinach, artichokes, and parsnips.

The ones I hate are the ones my mother always fixed:

Rutabagas

Turnips

Mustard greens - Mom and Dad always poured vinegar steeped in hot peppers over all their cooked greens

Turnip greens

Kale

Cooked cauliflower

Okra - too slimy

And one my husband loved and I just got too much of: brussel sprouts
very nice list of favorites!!!

i agree with all except two on your 'hates' list -- cooked cauliflower (i love it raw or cooked), and okra (though i only like it chopped, dipped in egg and then seasoned breadcrumbs, then baked on a baking sheet in the oven -- really very nice that way, and not at all slimy!)

I like most veggies although I didn't as a kid. But as I've learned it was because my mom had no idea how to cook them other than boil them to death.  Like, I hated peas as a kid because they were always out of a can or frozen. But now, if they are freshly picked? Do enjoy them a lot, especially when buttered with mint.

Favs - broccoli, asparagus, tomatoes (put I'm picky about those being from NJ where we grown fantastic ones), green beans, fresh NJ corn (as good as our tomatoes!).

I do have some honest dislikes; kale is the biggest. I do not get why this has become so popular. Other greens that taste better are far more nutritious - like arugula (YUM).

Not a fan of turnips either but mostly because they give me horrid gas.  I once had a delicious French potato turnip soup but oh so unhappy afterwards

great list of your favorites!!!

mmmmm......i love peas!
i'm not really big on corn; i'll add it to recipes, but don't really care for it otherwise.

for me, kale falls into the same category as turnip greens and mustard greens -- just not ever gonna consider trying them.

@mickNsnicks2mom  - I love raw cauliflower and fried okra, too. I have to rely on frozen fried okra up here, and it's not in the grocery stores very often. Fresh okra is rare, too. But at Cracker Barrel, I always get fried okra.

Sorry, I can't get into the 'not like' portion of your question, I love all veggies, I don't think there is one I don't like! If you don't like one, just fix it in a different way. When I diet I can sit down with a meal of mixed veggies and it is good! I'm eating raw cauliflower, carrots, radishes and celery right now!

Favorites: Carrots, Celery (especially if you put peanut butter or cream cheese on it!), Green Beans they have to be fresh and they are amazing with bacon, tomatoes, zucchini, cucumbers,

arichokes, corn on the cob.

Least Favorite: Brussel Sprouts and Asparagus. I've tried to like both because my mom likes them but they're just not for me. And cauliflower I have never liked it.
really good list of favorites!!!

yes, celery with peanut butter or cream cheese in it!
and i think that just about anything benefits from bacon...Yummm!

asparagus......i never seek it out, but i'm more or less okay with it.

i agree! many times i've found that i either dislike the way the particular vegetable has been prepared, or strongly prefer it prepared only certain ways -- like the oven fried okra, the only way i like okra......that i've tried so far.

oh my!!! your meal of raw cauliflower, carrots, radishes, and celery sounds so good!

up here, we don't find fresh okra in the grocery stores either. in fact, it's been well over 20 years since i last had fried okra......but i still remember how good it tasted!

I'm a sucker for a green bean.    Actually, there aren't any that I really dislike, although I'm VERY particular about how beets and Brussels sprouts are prepared.  Most of the time I just won't bother with them, but I've loved them on occasion,

I don't normally like eggplant. That's definitely one that's hard to make taste good. But I've had some very good eggplant parmesan! So it still all comes down to how it's prepared.

Pretty much anything can be good or bad depending on how it's prepared. So I can't really say what I like/dislike because it really depends on a lot of factors.

I really love a good fresh tomato, though (also, technically fruit!
). And sweet potatoes, yum.
oh so very true!!!

mmmmm......fresh tomatoes!
   ahhh, sweet potatoes!
i just love them. i also really like sweet potatoes (french) fries.

I have to admit..never had rutabagas or fennel or parsnips.

Like= corn, broccoli steamed, cauliflower-cooked mashed with butter..yum. tomatoes cooked. onions...fried! jalapeño peppers that are breaded and deep fried with cheese inside...peppers of most varieties..raw or cooked.

carrots cooked in a pot roast drippings..don't care for them raw..celery..in anything! cukes only if very fresh..they get slimy fast. lima beans only in a can of stewed tomatoes with corn..it's a soup that my dad came up with...it reminds me of my parents when I make it...we lived on stewed tomatoes many nights..just yummy.

tomatoes in a BLT with deep greenery lettuce..sounds lovely!

Cabbage-only raw-don't like it cooked. blah! potatoes...all varieties..cooked of course. winter squash only if it's loaded with brown sugar and butter..otherwise yuck. I don't have much experience with others other than acorn squash-cut in half and nuke it with butter...eat it right out of the shell..it's actually pretty yummy. Forgot Green beans-I eat them cold right out of the can.. frozen is good..fresh..either way!
that's a very nice list of vegetable 'likes'!!!

i used to like sweet green bell peppers, but not any longer. i think it's because their flavor can be a bit too strong for me; their flavor can, in some recipes, take over. i do love all the other available colors of sweet bell peppers though.

my dad used to eat cooked cabbage with cider vinegar on it; the cabbage was cooked as a wedge (shape). it's really quite good that way, imo.

oh my......acorn squash with brown sugar and butter!!!
it's been many (many) years since i've had that delicacy!

had to add that i do use green peppers these days when i make stuffed peppers.

This is an easy question for me since I'm vegetarian.  I don't think there is a vegetable I don't like.
Lately I have been eating more of the root vegetables especially in soup with quinoa.

My go to list of favorite veggies are:  garnet yams, broccoli, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, butternut or kabocha squash, cremini, portobello or shiitake mushrooms, onions, asparagus, kale, spinach, arugula and red, green, yellow or orange peppers.
ahhh, a lovely 'go to' list of favorites!!!

i'm not a vegetarian, but i don't mind having vegetarian meals added to my meal plans here and there. my most recent was a recipe for sweet and sour cauliflower. that was very, very good!
it was the sweet and sour sauce (made from scratch) that elevated it into the 'great' category. the cauliflower was baked with cumin (and possibly some other spice(s), would have to look at the recipe to be sure) on it.

I pretty much like most vegetables. Those included are: tomatoes, kale zuccini, cucumbers and corn on the cob. I could eat my weight in kale 3 times a day.

Ones I don't like: arugula, spinach and mustard greens.
that's a really good list of vegetables you like!!!
do you like eating zucchini raw? i discovered that i do, usually serve it with a little salad dressing as a dip. i also like to make little zucchini slices (appetizer size) pizzas -- just put the slices on a baking sheet, add sauce and cheese, then pop 'em in the oven until the cheese is melty and lightly browned......Yummmm!!!

I wish everyone would stop with that "tomato is a fruit" business. Botanically, anything that develops from a fertilized flower is a fruit, so that would include cucumbers, squash, peppers, eggplant, okra, zucchini, and others. Onions and garlic are bulbs. Broccoli is unopened flowers, and carrots, radishes, turnips, beets, etc., are roots. None of this makes them sound appetizing.

That's what I said. All the "fruits" I named are developed ovaries, bearing seeds. None of the bulbs, roots, or flower buds (broccoli and capers) carry seed.

Thanks to my oldest daughter I bake cauliflower with cumin too. She has taught me a lot about spices and seasonings.  So yummy.
