Good morning!
And Happy Friday!
Just waiting around for 4:00 to start the weekend.

Easy question this morning: What's your middle name? Is there a reason for your name (named after somebody in your family, for example)? Do you like it?

My middle name is Sue. I don't use it legally though. When I got married, I used my maiden name as my middle name, so I sign everything Pamela R., not Pamela S.

I could always tell when Mom was really mad at me. She would say, "PAMELA SUUUUUE!" and I know I was in trouble for something.

Mary and I'm not a huge fan. My mother's name is Marilyn, so it's sort of like hers.

McClain.   I do like it, very much.  It's the family name of ancestors who came originally from Ireland and Scotland.  My great aunt - Sarah McClain - left me a silver setting in her will because of my middle name.

Teresa. It is okay, I guess. No real reason behind it, except my dad liked it and wanted it for my first name. My mom liked the name Gloria and wanted that as my first name. Mom of course won. She did agree on Teresa being my middle name instead. I think I do like Gloria more myself. See, moms are always right!

My parents never gave my sister or I a middle name and when we asked they never really had an explanation either.  We used to make up names for ourselves and I thought about taking my maiden name when I got married but never did, always regretted that.  However, when I had my children I made sure to give them a middle name.

Ann.

It's ok. The only people that ever used it was when I was growing up in Brooklyn because my best friend had the same first name. It was the only way to differentiate which of us were being spoken to when we were in the same room.

The name was picked to honor my dad's brother who's first name began with an "A".  Most Jewish people name after the dead and try to stay with the same first letters as the person being honored.

I did not have a middle name until I was married and used my maiden name. Mother told my husband, "I never had a middle name, and neither does Rosemary!"  I hated not having a middle name. It was difficult to fill out forms. I would enter None or (None), and it would come back with the N initial for a middle name.

My ex had his middle name legally removed. He is Hispanic and his middle name was his Moms maiden name, he took his stepfathers last name when he turned 18 and dropped his moms last name and biological dads last name. But his first name is uniquely spelled so he never ran into the problem of same name. He also didn't give his daughters middle names.Yeah, imagine school being one out of the hundreds of Rodriguez (in Southern California) and very common first names. Not fun.

My middle name is Kay, no special reason behind it, it just went well with my first name. I like it, I can't think of one better. I agree with how much trouble you are in by how many names are used, first name, OK, just wants you home or has a question. Two names, a little more urgent, you better start paying attention and thinking about what you might have did wrong. All three names. you are in TROUBLE with a capital T, a spanking was usually coming or getting grounded!

Crystal.

My parents thought it sounded good between my first and last name (Katrina Crystal, there is no one else in the country with my full name so leaving off the last name but it runs together). My mom always thought my nickname would be KC but I never had a nickname growing up. When my Mom said my middle along with my first it was usually because she was annoyed but if the last name got thrown in she was upset.

My grandpa was Eureka Lavern. Yes, male. He was a 6'6" giant of a male; boxer, firefighter and survival trainer for the Navy. He went MIA in Vietnam though so I never knew him.

This!!!

Gah, I used to hate that!

I go by the nickname Betsy but my name is Elizabeth Gayle (Gayle was my mom's aunt).  So the 'you're in trouble' name was E--LI--ZA--BETH GAAAAYLE!

My middle name is Marie. Ellen Marie. I don't like it and I don't ever use it. I don't know why my parents gave me that awful name. I really don't like either one of my names. When I was in school there was no one else named else Ellen.

I don't have one and it never occurred to me to add one when I got married. My mom says the thought my first name was long enough so I didn't need one. I agree. I'm not missing anything.

Betty- That was my grandmothers name on my moms side ( her name was actually Elizabeth but everyone called her Betty). My first name is my dads mothers name so I was named after both my grandmothers. I like Betty now but hated it when I was a kid. I'm the youngest and only girl and my brothers would tease me. They would call me goofy names like Bouncing Betty, Betty Bean, Bloody Betty anything to adgitate me[emoji]128563[/emoji]Lol.

Bivings.  That is my mother's maiden name.  It seems to be a Southern thing, among the "Old South" families.  You can almost trace a family tree by the middle names.

To me, it's a very American thing to have one's mother's maiden name as one's middle name. I like it a lot.

Huh...I've not run across it much of anywhere but the south, and my northern friends seem to think it very odd.  Glad you like it!  I do, too!
