Hi there! I taught my kitten how to sit on command.. Or at least when I am holding a treat bag. Lol.

I don't know if this is not really a big deal but, I am really excited about this as I didn't realize how obedient cats can be!

I posted a few links below! (Sorry if I didn't do this right.)

Also, apologies for my voice, audio quality of said voice and the video itself.. I was recording on my phone.
I was trying to get it on camera because my husband wouldn't believe me. Lool!

I am so proud!! I don't know what else I'm going to teach her! Maybe to spin? :p

Awww... that's adorable!

Tati hates sit... but she does real well on High Five, Shake, Down Low, Kisses (which I really don't want to swap spit with a cat so we either nose bump or touch foreheads) and she will stand on her back legs if I let her lick my fingers.  She loves doing that.  Can't get her to fetch, though I have heard other cats do it.

I'm so jealous!!! That is such a talented cat you have. Do you use a clicker at all?
I've just been shaking the treat bag. Don't know if it's worth to get a clicker or not.
I still don't know if she's 100% listening to me, but it really does seem like it.. Maybe I'm just a proud mom and I'm blindsided.

I really want to teach her how to high five, but I have no idea where to start! Will definitely be looking into more tricks. :)

Oh, don't be jealous... your baby is just a baby and she responds immediately to your command... and she sits and waits while you fish for the treat, so you are off to a great start!  I don't have a clicker.... keep saying I am going to get one.  It looks to me like your baby is listening.  What is her name? (or his)  How long have you been working with your kitten on tricks?

Tati was intent at first, like she was as excited about hey, look, we are doing tricks, just like I was excited.  But after a bit, we got bored with it will be saying "lay down" and she will be trying to high five... like c'mon, give me my stupid treats already. Tati is leash trained and going out for walks bring us both more joy and I just have limited time to work with training her... and very few opportunities for her to show off as I work all the time and we don't get out or have people over all that often.

My kitten is around 5 or 6 months, she's small for her age. Her name is Dandelion (Dandy for short).

Honestly, on and off throughout the past week or so. Probably 4 days in total. I figured I'd try to teach her to sit because she appeared to be pretty responsive to me when I was trying to get her to jump from different levels of her cat tree and to boot, she is so hyper active I also thought it'd give her something to do.

I first started off with putting the treat over her head, so she would sit down automatically, then I did it with the treat in my hand. Today was the first day she did it without me even having to take the treat out of the bag.

I think it would be so neat to have my cat leashes trained, there's snow everywhere so I think I may hold off on that for now!I'm a stay at home.. Home maker, I guess. So I have a bunch of time to do nothing haha. It's even more impressive you taught her all of that with such a busy schedule going on. I feel like Dandy will get bored with the treats, eventually, but right now we are digging it!!

Did you have to leash train Tati and at young age? And does she behave on the leash or does she try to climb trees? Haha, I'm so curious!!

Sounds like you and Dandy might enjoy agility training if you time, energy, and inclination.

Ah, Tati is smart.  And she loves her Temptations.  As for leash training, cats walk different than dogs, and I have 4 cats, 3 have been on leases, and none of them walk the same.  As a general rule of thumb, when walking cats, be prepared to follow where they lead, at least at first.  Tati spent 2 years climbing trees on leash.  Now I  just unhook her and let her go and she comes right back to me when she comes down.  We have had quite the adventures with getting her harness snagged on a branch or her leash tangled up... if you let Dandy climb, make sure you have the harness loose enough she can wiggle out if need be.  If you decided to try it, lots here can give you good pointers.  Best advice is to get the harness or collar well in advance so Dandy will have time to play with it and get used to it/get her scent on it before trying to put it on her.

Your kitten is cute, is he a  seale or chocolate point ( hard to tell at that age.)  Siamese (and by extension their crosses) are good at learning tricks, because they are so intelligent, social, and eager to please (and show off).   I keep meaning to teach Freya more tricks.  At the moment she does three.

-"nosebump" where I say "nosebump" and put my finger to her nose and she'll touch and then lick it.  I also use that command to calm her when she is slightly agitated.

-Fetch ( which she plays more on her terms than mine), but plays a few times a week.

-"pass" which is where I've sort of taught her to play catch (or maybe soccer)  with me.    I roll a ball to her then say, "freya pass!" and she'll swat it back to me (usually).

(and my obligatory linking of Freya's fetch video)

Hi Sargon!

As I adopted her from a Shelter (She was actually a barn cat) she's not purebred or anything so I honestly don't know!  Am I allowed to call her a Chocolate point or a Seal point if she's not a purebred (I don't really know the rules! lol.) From pointers on the internet, she more resembles a Seal point, she has brown pads and she has kind of a darker streak on her back going on, that's connected to her tail.

Mollyblue:

Maybe I'll give it a go this summer!

I don't know if Dandy has even any interest in the outside. She doesn't look out the window or anything (I personally think she's glad to finally be inside in the warmth.)
The only time she has even bothered to look outside was when I was shoveling the driveway, haha.

Maybe I'll try to convince my husband to agree on letting her outside on a leash, to see how she likes it. :)

Chocolate Point, Seal Point or Flame Point are more about color than breed.  Siamese, or Ragdoll, or Persian deal with breed, so yeah, its okay.

I have two cats, one is a stray/rescue that we took in when she was pregnant.  I don't think she was born feral, but we do have a large feral cat population around our apartments, so its a possibility... but we have a large population of owners who move out but forget to take their pets.  Our office has rescued gold fish/betta fish that have just been left in the apartment... one time a little puppy was left in his carrier (in freezing cold weather) beside the dumpster... but the cats, they just get thrown outdoors.  Anyway, the other is her son... only one kitten survived her pregnancy.  Buttercups, the mom, doesn't want to go outside at all.  Took her months to even venture out on the balcony.  Her son - and I am pretty sure I know who is his father is as there is a feral tom that we called Grandpa... and he looks just like grandpa... but despite that he was even partially bottle fed... is very distrusting of humans.  He has the feral gene... strong....  He will hang out in the same room with us, but if you get up from  your chair he will dart for cover, he will rub up on you, but if you put your hand out to pet him, he will dance away.  He has the desire to go outside because he loves his Tatiana, and she loves to go outside... but when you take him out he is terrified.  When we first started leash training with him, he was still a baby and his collar slipped off... poor little guy just stood there shaking and looking and me like "Hey, that thing broke"... only time in his year and half that he has WANTED to be picked up!

If Dandy is happy inside and doesn't express any interest in the outdoors... then you might just want to be happy with that.  Walking outdoors, even on a leash, still exposes them to fleas or what not, and if by chance she gets off the leash, if she gets frightened and bolts... some cats just act weird outside.  They can be perfectly friendly inside, but outside they might be afraid to come to you or will hide for protection and not come out, even if they hear you calling....     Just things to consider.
