Hello everyone!

Here are some photos of my cat's Brown spots >

The photos are high res so you can zoom-in if you'd like a better look.

Anyone seen this before?

My cat is only 1.5 years old, always been in-doors, and always fed a 100% Blue Buffalo Wet Food and Blue Buffalo Dry Food diet since approximately 2 months old (we got her from a local breeder).

My cat has never had any health problems and is spayed.

The brown spots seem to be only on the tips of my cat's fur, i've checked each spot and it definitely doesn't go down to her skin at all.

I don't think I dropped anything onto her like food or paint or anything obvious like that, so I don't understand how this is happenning.

In total, there are like 5 or 6 spots on her that have only started like maybe 1 month ago.

Does it matter that her yearly checkup is almost 3 months overdue right now?

Thanks everyone!

That is very odd. That it is only on the tips indicates that it is likely not something biological as one would expect a biological problem to start at the root of the hair. I would guess that it is likely brushing up against something or something dripped on. Do you have any rusty pipes that could have been rubbed against? A damp area and maybe some sort of mold transfer? I'd almost say you should call a plumber to check for leaking pipes because the color reminds me of either rust or mold so much. Whatever it is, it is odd.

Since the annual vet is overdue I would just do the annual and ask about them at the same time. Two birds with one stone.

I highly suggest taking a wet paper towel and swiping on these spots, you need to make sure this is not blood first. If blood it would turn red on wet paper towel.

This pattern is not from within, it is definitely something topical, hoping it is not blood, if so likely from another source due to the location.

To me it does look like blood.

Another pet perhaps?

I second @catwoman707

You may also attempt to remove the spots using alcohol. Small volume, of course, in one spot only. And dry the area immediately.

Could also be caused by tears or saliva. In this case, presenting the cat to the vet may be a wise approach, since such spots may be symptoms of a variety of conditions .

Thanks for all the wonderful replies! I definitely agree that these spots were almost certainly caused by something externally dropping onto my cat. I don't think it is due to tears, or saliva, or blood, because one of the spots is located directly behind my cats head where she couldn't posisbly reach! lol. I'm beginning to think one of my parents may have dropped some "do-It-yourself home hair coloring kit" onto my cat. We don't have any exposed pipes because we live in a Condominium. Also, we don't have any other pets. But the spots are NOT growing, NOT expanding, and NOT anywhere close to her skin at all. But still, I'm gonna take her to her appointment soon! Thanks everyone!

Well, better safe than sorry.

There are fur conditions (yeast infection is only one of them) which causes this sort of spots. Some may only slowly advance/extend. Some are like alergia - appear and disappear.

The vet has the word, anyway.
