Hello all. I have a male cat called Mercury. We rescued him from the outdoors about two or three years ago now. He has always had a tummy that was quite bald as well as the backs of his front legs. I never really thought anything of it as he didn't seem irritated by it and I never noticed him over grooming or anything. Well anyway, I have noticed before that one of his nipples appeared a bit bloody. I put some vaseline on it because I figured he had gotten snagged by another cat and that it just needed to heal. This was quite a few months back now. He is fairly skittish so I don't see his belly too often, but he was just being very lovable and I got a glimpse of his belly.. and low and behold, bloody nipples. I'm not sure if it is anything to worry about or not. They don't appear swollen or irritated at all. He also throws up after every meal basically, not surw if that couls bw related to anything, but he is not a small cat. He is about 14 pounds. His coat is very soft and shiny. He does not appear sick or lethargic, and as I said before, he has always had a balded tummy and I am willing to bet his nipples have been like this for quite some time too. He is a very happy cat and does not seem to be in any pain whatsoever. Any ideas?

Sorry I was unable to get a better photo.

I'm going to go with food allergy and/or litter allergy.  I would get him to the vet to get something to help his nipples heal up, then look at what you're feeding and what kind of litter you're using.  Have you changed foods and litter recently?

We have always used the same litter. Tidy Cats. Never once have changed it ever. And we did switch foods maybe five months ago now, but he threw the other stuff up way more than he does now. It was just a cheap Purina dry food for indoor cats. We feed them Blue Buffalo multi-cat now. We tried the sensitive stomachs one and they actually ALL seemed worse with that one.

Merky.
