Greetings everyone! Last Tuesday of January - dun dun duuuuuun!

Pardon the late post, long busy day, Ah, life, am I right?

Who inspires you?

Or in other words if you like, who is a role model or even personal hero? And why?

For me....

Margaret Cavendish - Intellectual woman of the sciences during the late 17th century, author, promoter of equality of woman in both in life and marriage. Wrote the first Science Fiction novel (With gender roles reverse if I may add) Amongst other accomplishments. Badass.
Dr Lucy Worsley - Currently a presenter of so many nicely done historical documentaries and a chief curator at Historic Royal Palaces. I just think she is so cool. Huge fan. #Girlcrush. Badass. I never care about celebs but if I ever meet this person I would die like a floofy fan stereotype.
Celia Fiennes - Female traveller, wrote about her travel and economic studies, which was unusual and gutsy at the time (Lived around the same time as Cavendish) remained single. Badass.
Queen Elizabeth I - Speaks for itself. Badass.
Flora Sandes - Female Soldier during WWI. Aaaaand badass.
Major Lyudmila Pavlichenko - WWII Ukrainian Sniper. 309 confirmed kills, over 30 other snipers. One of the few who survived. Independent and opinionated. Got her Master's Degree after the war. Happy Sigh!

There is more but will stop there, lest I drove on and on and on during this post!

My father.  I think he was the calmest, most rational human I ever met, and at the same time the most open-minded.  I've seen him walk into a room of heated, yelling people and begin to speak quite softly...and one by one by one the room quieted so that they could hear what he said.  He taught me that it is futile to DEmand respect, that one must COMmand respect by one's own actions.  He taught me that honor and one's word still has worth in the world.  He taught me that one never judges another by their color, religion, level of education or social status, but by their integrity and ability to love others.  He taught me to laugh, to see wonder in the world, to marvel at the small miracles of life (bumblebees, for instance).  He taught me to respect nature and all the creatures in it, and to never, ever expect them to act outside of their own natures.  The finest compliment I ever received was from a friend of his, who said, "God, you are SO like your father!"  He was a man in the finest sense of the word.  I have never seen his like again.  I know they are out there, but they are rare, indeed.

I miss you, Daddy.

I'd have to say Elizabeth I inspires me. What a woman! And never married to protect her crown.

I'm a fan of Lucy Worsley, too. I've watched many of her shows on YouTube and am watching "Secrets of Henry VIII's Wives" now. Somehow I found her email address on the Internet and sent her a note saying how much I enjoyed her programs. To my surprise, she answered! She seemed pleased that someone liked her shows.

Actress Doris Day is my hero. Always has been, always will be. All of her life she has stood up for animal rights by helping to get them s/n and finding them homes. She brought a large ranch so she could give homes to homeless animals and she has helped many animals get adopted. I just think she is a wonderful person. She is well liked in Hollywood for her kindness.

Winston Churchill has always been my hero. What Great Britain would have done without his inspiration is a frightening thing to imagine.

@Primula  - Yes, he was the backbone of the UK during WWII. An unforgettable statesman. His mother was an American, so we claim him, too.

...with the cats...
there really are so many people that inspire me. thinking through many of them, i'd say that President John F. Kennedy would be the one who inspires me the most.
