I am new. I have 2 cat daughters, Vincie,16, and Callie, 6. My Kirsten, 17, passed away peacefully at home on 7 Ocober

and I am still grieving.

I found this site by looking for info on how cats can tell when their owners are feeling rough. Vincie has been so loving

lately, as though she knows how I feel and need comfort

Hi Mia6 and welcome to the site!

17 is a wonderful age and Kirsten obviously had a wonderful life with you.  If think it would help you may like to leave a tribute to her, we have a Crossing the Bridge forum..

It's amazing how our cats just 'know'.  Mine will often cuddle up to me when I'm low or in pain; often if I'm ill they'll be right where the pain is.

We hope you'll be able to share more about Vincie and Callie and your life with your girls when you're ready.

A very warm and belated welcome to you, Vincie and Callie.
I'm very glad you found TCS - there is so much information available and the members are very supportive and caring.  I'm so sorry to hear about Kirsten leaving you in October.  It makes perfect sense to me that you are still grieving over this.  They work their way deep into our hearts and become part of us and you and Kirsten were together for many years.

Did you find the information you were looking for?  There are so many stories of cats offering support when they know their humans are hurting, be it emotional or physical.  Vincie may very well be giving you extra attention because she knows you are suffering right now.  She may also be giving you extra attention because she is missing Kirsten herself.  Cats do grieve when their buddies leave them.

You might want to post a tribute to Kirsten in the Crossing the Bridge forum:  http://www.thecatsite.com/f/19/crossing-the-bridge   Many people find it very comforting and therapeutic.

When you are up to it, we'd all love to see photos of Vincie, Callie and Kirsten.

Hi and Welcome!
First, so sorry on the loss of your sweet Kirsten. Of course you are still grieving. She was your baby for seventeen years, and a huge part of your life. I lost my precious Mickey over two years ago, and I am still mourning his loss. Four months is not long at all.
As far as Vincie and Callie, I am sure they are mourning the loss as well. Yes, they realize you are hurting just as they are. They want to comfort you. That is very sweet! You all need each other now, for comfort and love.
Many of us like to post a tribute to our babies who have passed in the "Crossing The Bridge" forum. We get to speak about our babies, post pictures of them, and let others know how special they were.
Please continue to post, and we would love to see pictures of all your kitties.
Again, welcome!

Thank you all for your kind words. My Vincie had a very rough time after Kirsten passed. She is deaf as well

and the vet said it would take her longer to grieve. I am disabled do to chronic pain issues after shoulder surgery

and they seem to know when I am hurting.

I am happy to have found this site.

Thank you Margd,

When I feel up to it I will post about Kirsten. We used to dance to the song Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol,,sounds silly but whenever I hear

it I start to cry.

Again, thank you.

It's not silly at all.  A lot of people dance and sing with their cats.  My late Wesley, Milo and I used to really go to town with Chantilly Lace by the Big Bopper. It took a long time, but now I can listen to Chantilly Lace and smile again, remembering how goofy the three of us were together.

Take your time. You'll know when you're ready to post more about Kirsten.  For now,  you must grieve in your own way.
