Hi all! Looking for any experience or advice for a kitten who is biting/chewing hard? Franklin is roughly 12 weeks (maybe a little more) old, and since I adopted him (he was only 5-6 weeks when we received him) he has always been very playful, but he chews HARD. It is hard to play with him with how rough he gets, though I know he's not being malicious. My senior cat has acted as an adoptive dad to Franklin, and will put him in his place when he gets too rough with him. (Which is very rare, he knows not to mess with dad!) however I haven't had any luck avoiding the chompers! I distract with toys but he will try to chew almost every time he is petted. Any tips would be appreciated!

You may want to Play more with him with the cat toys(fishing pole, feathers) Right now he is seeing everything as a cat toy including your hands. He needs to associate something else the fishing pole cat toys are great for doing that you will find less and less nips to your hands when you try to pet. Also try to only pet him above the shoulders and see if that alone solves the problem it may.

He's probably teething. Kittens lose their baby teeth and begin to cut their adult teeth around 12 weeks. Give him toys and do play with him. He'll outgrow some of this as he matures. It's normal kitten behavior. Good you have an adult cat to help him with his manners! [emoji]128522[/emoji]
