My cat gave birth this morning at around 2:00 to one kitten its been around 10 hours since then and her belly still feels that there's another one/few left in there. Is this normal.

Yes, pauses are quite normal. A few hours or even days...  As long momma seems OK, no visible troubles, you can usually wait and see.  Be watchful of course, the situation is touchy, but not alarming by itself.

Is the first kitten alive and well?  Momma taking care of it properly?

btw, kittens dont move much when in the birth is near.  So you dont feeling them move doesnt prove much, unless you are very used to palpitate.

Thank you yes she did give birth again to another one about 3 hours after I put up the post and another one not to long ago last night.

however there is another mother in the room with her four babies and my cat keeps taking the other cats kittens and taking them for her own and not looking after her 3 kittens. Is it OK for her to do this or shall I stop her?

this is common, if moms are best friends, and they do care about all kittens properly, its OK.   Here, as your cat isnt taking good care about her own, do stop her....   Separate both moms with their kittens, its the best here for now.

Yes, they need to be separated until the kittens are older. How old is the other litter?

Can you keep both moms inside and completely away from intact males?

I agree they need to be separated. Each mom needs to care for her own so everyone gets enough milk for now, especially if one litter is older. The bigger kittens root out the newborns and they may not get enough to eat.

They can all be together again once the kittens begin to wean to soft foods at 4-6 weeks. Now is just a critical time. [emoji]128522[/emoji]
