He may have been chased by something and strained his leg. I would watch him and make sure it's just a limp and not a disorientation. Disorientation requires medical attention. If it's a limp and it doesn't go away in a day or so I'd take him to get checked out.

Is there any way you can get him to a vet for a quick checkup? Cats are usually pretty resilient but it's always a peace of mind to get him to a professional to make sure nothing is wrong.

Has he eaten anything since he's been back home? If he's not interested in food, you know you have a problem and a visit to the vet is mandatory.

Not to sound harsh , but no one here is going to be able to doing anything other than tell you what you already know--that you need to take your cat to the vet.  Cats are very adept at hiding their pain.  If your cat is openly showing signs of discomfort then I would suspect he's really injured.

The description of "not jumping" and "walking funny" is just too broad for anyone on here to really take a good guess at what it is. Could be a break, fracture, dislocation, strain/sprain, pulled muscle, abscess near a joint, cuts/scratches that are bumped when moving, bruising, the classic thorn in paw, reaction to some bug bite near a joint, unrelated to escape joint problems, something brought on by stress, ..... anything really that would impair range of motion or movement. It could be minor and need nothing more than a quick check and rest. It could be something more serious.

My cat broke his leg. Later the pin holding it together failed and nearly broke through his skin (you could see it and feel it easily). He barely showed discomfort and continued to try to jump and run with it. If your cat has a visible limp and is refusing to jump my guess it would be on the more problematic end of the scale and need a vet. If it is a break or fracture delay in treatment could result in it getting worse or lead to a permanent limp.

Your best course of action is a vet checkup. Your vet can advise you on the best options to prevent further damage and give pain medicine because limping usually equals pain.

You could wait a day or two, but if there is no improvement at all you should take him in. If he's putting weight on it, that is good. You might run your hand up his leg and feel his hip, etc. while running your other hand up the opposite leg, that way you can feel by comparing the two if there is any difference. It would help if you could pinpoint the injury to his paw, his joints, or his hip. You could film his walk on your phone and bring it in to the vet, someone could look at it and give you advise.
