Hey all

I need a little advice so I have a vets appointment at 5.30 pm today.

Going back i used to live on a road where i got to know my neighbour pretty well. And ahe took a big liking to one of my cats. Hes a beautiful cross breed that i had rehomed. I had two other kitties also which she exclaimed wasnt as nice as him. Which i found very rude! Anyway i moved house and stayed at my partners while my appartment was being done up and he was kept in for a good 3 weeks at least before my little lad ended up letting him out. All was ok so i thought letting him out would be ok until he vanished. I was devastated, the next thing i know a week later we get a knock at the door from my old neighbours next door neighbour, i know confusing right. He said how he was down there and that the lady was feeding him. We had to go down and get him. Well this was the start of it n she kept encouraging him down and feeding him all sorts of rubbish.

She then kept removing his collars. I moved into the apartment and he was kept then souly as a house cat although he had access to going outside it was just safer for him. Things were brilliant until eventually me and my partner decided to get a place together and also needed a bigger home. So we moved once more. Again he was kept in for at least a month and seemed settled so id decided things would be ok and i let him out and he came back every evening for dinner. Amd then one evening he didnt come back the next morning still no sign.

I posted up on Facebook and didnt hear nothing for two weeks then my old neighbour came to my door how she knew where i lived was a mystery and she said he was there and i had to take him. So i went and lifted him! But she kept then hanging around n he would disappear again. This went on for about a year until we came to an agreement that he seemed happy there so she had him and would look after him. That was until recently.

A lady posted up a picture on Facebook of him he had been laying in her garden all day and hadnt moved. Eventually they went to get a cat box and when they came back he had vanished. But it was clear that something wasn't right. I searched for him and no sign of him. Until last night my old neighbour came to the door and said he was at hers she simply didnt care and was more worried about the friend she was going to have over. Technically she was now his owner but didnt want to pay for vet bills. But i went and lifted him because i wasn't going to just leave him to suffer.

We got him home and he seemed to be limping from his back leg. Though is putting pressure on it and he usually fights when i put him in the cat box but he didn't. He doesnt seem right at all. He just wanted a bit of a cuddle and warmth and only ate very little last night and turned his nose up to food this morning. I haven't seen him drink either :(. But like i said i have a vets appointment anyway but wondered if anyone else has any opinions on this? And also what i can do with reguards to the old neighbour because she will only keep coming back and the poor cat is so confused. I can't let him go back there, he looks neglected. Hes dirty and scruffy smells bad like a stray cat. So i am keeping him in now which means litter training again. But there is also the slight risk of him getting out due to my son hes 4. And i know rightly he will get out and she will have him and next time might be too late to help him. It just isnt fair on him.

When he was here he was groomed once a day as all my cats. I literally pamper them but I am at a stage where i dont know what to do. We told her to not feed him leave him be if he wonders up there but she dowsnt she walks down just to encourage him back up there.

Thank you for replying.

He is in the vets now on a drip was severely dehydrated bless him. And has some sort of infection so is isnt out of the wars yet but hopefully will be on the mend.

I think parting with him would only confuse him further:( but keeping him in despite being difficult would be our best option. It is just a worry as I don't know the extents that the old neighbour would go to to have him. I found pit she has a cat box which would explain a lot in how he keeps ending up there as it isn't like a small walk. Even I hate walking that far, and the main roads too. My partner is going to speak to her and tell her enough is enough. But i dont think there is a lot that we could actually do.

If you're paying the bills for his medical care, then he is your cat, to my thinking. I would make sure that he stays inside to keep him safe and to keep him from a repeat episode of this that landed him in the hospital.

Yeah he was my cat to begin with and my old neighbour just would not leave him alone. She basically cat napped him and kept feeding him. But i went down and got him and he was filthy he looked like a stay. He would go in and out of the house when living here and he looked in great condition. But yeah I want to keep him in but I know she will come back and try take him. But he has been my cat from the start. I have him nurtured because i didnt want him reproducing, i kept up with all his vaccinations he's registered with the vet under my name and address. So she has no right, its the fact that i dont know what to do with her :/

Keep the cat in your house where your neighbor cannot get him. Threaten legal action if she steals your cat again. You need to put your foot down in order to save your cat.

I hope he recovers quickly. Poor guy.
