My kitty is going in for an ultrasound tomorrow because she's been having blood in her poop for months.

The vet told me that they wouldn't need to shave her...but everything online that I've seen shows cats getting their bellies shaved. It's a specialist who comes in to do the ultrasound, so I guess it's possible that the vet could have been wrong and they will need to. My cat is a definite stress cat, and I just don't want to do anything unnecessary that will stress her out, like taking off all of her hair.

Do you know if it's possible to do an ultrasound without shaving their stomachs?

Pedro had ultrasound, several times. I do not recall him being shaved.

Jack the Cat (pictured on profile) had ultrasound for his narrow esophagus. Definitely was not shaved. The vet let me run it back and forth along his esophagus, so I know for sure.

Thank you! She's a short haired cat too, so hopefully it's less likely!

I had 2 cats have an abdominal ultrasound that had their bellies shaved. My recent one was just a strip, my older girl had a bit more of a shave.
