Good morning!

This week, one of my cats has been having some gastro upset — she’s doing well on jar baby food now. So cat food is on my mind.

For today’s Question of the Day, let’s talk about the foods our cats prefer……

What is your cat(s) favorite food(s)?   (Can be canned, dry, raw, home cooked, treats, or little bits of people food)

I’ll start!

Our Dude and DeeDee are relatively flexible with their food preferences, though they don’t tend to like the pate style canned cat foods. Lately, their favorite has been Precise Wild at Heart River Line. I mix other brands/flavors in with this brand most times, which gives them more variety. They both also love Weruva Paw Lickin Chicken canned cat food.

Our little Punky continues to have occasional bouts of gastro upset, which our vet believes could well be IBD. She loves pretty much any brand/flavor of cat food, but did best sticking with one brand and flavor until recently. So, we’ll be trying some Natural Balance Limited Ingredient Diet canned starting this coming week.

All three of my cats love freeze dried chicken treats; we buy the Life Essentials brand.

Okay, now it’s your turn!

That's a tough question, because Mogli loves food, period, with the exception of bananas, herring and mackerel. He leaves the room when my husband is eating the former and doesn't beg when he's eating the latter two.

Mogli is on a special diet due to IBD and food intolerance; he gets grain-free canned consisting of unique proteins. What he loves and can't have is bread of any kind, so I'll say that's his favorite, followed by blueberry Activia yogurt.

I like to hand feed snacks to my kitties.  I come close to losing fingers when I hand feed dehydrated chicken!

Steamed chicken breast is a winner with all of them. It's actually cheaper for me to buy a pack of chicken breasts than it is to buy treats for all of them. Another thing they go absolutely crazy for is Ciao fillet sticks.

Forest loves mayonnaise and Lizzie and Freya will do anything to get the bit of grilled cheese off of your cheese on toast. If I eat that I have to stand up, or they'll swipe it.

The kids eat Friskies Buffet pate cans for their meals. Mollipop gets a little Hills Dental dry to garnish her food; the rest of the kids get a little Friskies Indoor Delights as garnish on their pate. They all love Chicken and Tuna Pate and plates are licked clean. Tabby and Ms. Pepe also like the Chicken and the Beef Bits. The rest of the cats only eat pate to avoid any stomach issues.Muffin turns up her nose at any plate that is not pate.

I accidentally put a plate of Bits down for Muffin one morning and she looked at her plate, looked up at me, merowed, and walked off in a huff. She wouldn't touch it. I realized that I had given Tabby's plate to Muffin by accident, switched plates and ran after Muffin with her own plate. She was really upset!

As for human food, Tabby loves her Frosted Mini Wheats. Tabby also likes vanilla ice cream, but NOT vanilla bean. I don't know; I don't think she likes the little black specks. Mollipop loves Cheez-its. They'll all eat a big of roasted or stewed chicken, if I don't have it highly seasoned (sometimes I make my version of Rotisserie Chicken and it's pretty highly spiced for them, so they can't have that).

In the summer, we will buy Frosty Claws (a vanilla ice cream for pets) as a special treat for them, maybe once or twice during the summer.

Both of ours adore freeze dried chicken PureBites.  Casper will take a finger off for them,  if one is not careful!   Cocoa is hand fed but he gets his placed on the floor LOL

Casper also like a lot of dairy products but being they aren't the best choice it's rare he's allowed to eat it. Maybe a lick of plain yogurt off a finger or a tablespoon of milk.  I can't even remember the last time he got that.

Both go nuts if they sense any kind of human chicken meals.  Teh kittiz luv mom's home cooking

CHICKEN!!!  My cats go nuts for chicken!  Rotisserie, boiled boneless skinless breast, canned (for people) chunks, they go bonkers the moment they smell CHICKEN!!  I try to give them shredded chicken 2 or 3 times a week.

But wait a minute.  That's not right.  Their favorite is:

FISH!!!  My cats go nuts for fish!  Baked, broiled, canned, they go bonkers the moment they smell FISH!!  I try to give them some cooked fresh fish 2 or 3 times a week.

No wait, I'm sorry, made a mistake.  Their favorite is:

BEEF!  My cats go nuts for beef!  Stew, pot roast, doesn't matter how it is cooked, they go bonkers the moment they smell BEEF!  I try to give them some shredded beef 2 or 3 times a week.

I don't know why I keep getting mixed up.  Their favorite is:

CANNED!!! My cats go nuts the minute they hear the can opener, they are sure it must be cat food for them.  They go bonkers the moment the smell the opened canned cat food.  Doesn't matter if it is Mixed Grill, Turkey and Giblets, or something else.  I give them canned food once daily as their evening meal.

I don't think my cats HAVE a favorite.  They are all foodies!!  Ha ha haaa.

Of the 7, 5 also go crazy when I open the container of catnip.

Raw - freeze dried turkey.  I was giving Carleton Stella & Chewy but have alternated with Primal and he loves both, can't eat it fast enough.

Leroy's a walking trash can / vacuum cleaner. He'll eat anything that he can get his mouth around, edible or not
Emma doesn't really have a favorite food. She's a little picky with raw meats and treats.

Hekitty will only eat two or three brands of kibble.  She will NOT touch canned food or people food, with the exception of tuna water and raspberry sherbet (NOT as the same time).  She has an addiction to Temptations (Kitty Crack), which I severely limit.

My boys absolutely love Soulistic in gelee, but no way mama is gonna pay for that all the time, so it's more of a treat. Penelopy is my big dry food addict, she loves the Science Diet 11+ (she is literally dancing when I'm filling the bowl). Maple loves pretty much any cat food. None of them are really that big into people food (unlike Lucky and Sara, who would steal food off my plate!).

ahhh, this reminds me of my mickey
and snick
. i used to let my mickey smell fruits and vegetables that i was putting in the fridge or getting ready to eat. he always liked to smell them, though never expressed an interest in eating them. now little snick really didn't like to smell fruits and vegetables. she'd make kind of a scrinched up face that seemed to say, 'OH......my goodness...Yuck!'

no bread for your Mogli......
interesting...is Mogli able to eat the blueberry Activia yogurt?

The vet says a little blueberry yogurt once in a while is fine. I've usually given cats a teaspoon of plain yogurt, cottage cheese or quark once or twice a week as a little treat, but for some reason Mogli wants blueberry yogurt and Jamie wanted walnut, but of a different brand.

Despite all his problems with foodstuffs, Mogli isn't lactose intolerant. He used to steal and bite into containers of cream every chance he got. It got so bad that we started buying it in glass bottles.

oh, poor Muffin! but mom fixed it, switched plates so she had her pate. here, if that happened with our Punky's dish......she'd gobble the wrong food all down, then there would most certainly be gastro upset to follow shortly.

your Tabby and her Frosted Mini Wheats!
i can understand not liking vanilla bean ice cream. i don't like it either, at least the store bought brands that i've tried. i'm sure i'd absolutely love homemade vanilla bean ice cream though.

how interesting!!! i'm not sure i'd heard about Frosty Claws.

yes, PureBites freeze dried chicken!
i've learned to place my cats treats on the floor for them too, as they get pretty excited about treats.

ahhh, your Casper and Cocoa know good food when they smell it!!!
