Ok, guys, question here. My 11 week kitten has been getting wet Max Cat and Blue Diamond kitten food. He seems to really like it, but I've been wanting to try Ziwipeak wet but it's not "kitten" food. My vet told me he needs to have kitten food unless he's a year old. What do you guys think? Your experience? :argh:

I've been told that that's a huge scam by the pet food industry. Kittens and cats apparently eat the same food. The only difference is that kittens need to consume more food than an older cat. I've taken care of both kittens and cats and I've never bought food for a specific life stage. All my cats, even the kittens have gotten raw meat. The only difference? The kittens get more raw meat more often because they are always hungry.

Hope this helps. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Thank you, that does help. What do you think of Ziwipeak? I do want to switch to eventually switch to raw...:lol3::clap:

It's fine to include some "all life stages" food into a kitten's diet
You can even feed only "all life stages" food to a kitten. You'd just have to feed more of it to meet a growing kitten's needs.

ZiwiPeak is a good brand, if expensive and hard to find if you don't have an independent pet store in the area and you don't want to buy online.

Commerical raw pet food is the easiest way to get started
Most are complete diets but some are not so be sure to read the label. I feed my cats Nature's Variety Instinct frozen raw. If you don't have freezer space, look into shelf stable freeze dried raw or dehydrated raw. Some cats won't eat frozen or homemade raw right away but may eat freeze dried raw instead. You can start there and slowly work your way over to another type of raw.

You're right. But in my situation, I couldn't find premade raw that was cost effective. I have to source the meat myself and add the wet food.

But this is getting off topic so the OP can take it further in another thread if so be the case.
