Ultrasound while on prednisilone?

Our cat has not been eating well, and she is on pred and cerenia. Initially I turned down an ultrasound, but her symptoms continue despite the meds.

The vet said an ultrasound while she is on pred may not show anything. Has anyone here had an ultrasound for their cat while he/she is on pred?

Trying to decide what to do (still!).

Many thanks in advance.

As I stated previously, I have had Ultrasound and Endoscopic biopsy experience with four cats for IBD/Lymphoma

None were put on Prednisolone  PRIOR to Ultrasound. Vets don't usually do this prior to proper diagnosis.  However, it is my understanding that they can do the Ultrasound with the cat being on Prednisolone.  While not ideal, the Ultrasound will at least show thickening of the small intestine, any tumors, fluid and/or inflammation.

The real issue comes in regarding a biopsy..  If the cat has been treated with Prednisolone, it CAN make a diagnosis of cancer difficult.  Some Vets require the cat to be tapered off steroids and be steroid free for 6 weeks prior to biopsy.

I would at least pursue the Ultrasound for now.  Information gleaned will point to the next step, if any.

I agree with the above, the biopsy can be masked by the pred, but if there is thickening of the bowels that will likely still show up, and if there is something else going on, enlarged lymph nodes, liver, or a tumor that can all show up on U/S.  My IBD cat had multiple U/S's while on pred and we learned something every time.  I would go ahead with it if it was me, especially since your cat isn't responding well to treatments.

Thank you both very much for the feedback.

My plan at the moment is to get the U/S this Tuesday. I am really concerned she may have cancer.
