Good morning!
 And Happy Friday!
 Another work week almost finished.

I was going through my underwear bureau drawers last night, looking for a certain pair of socks. So I have sock questions this morning!

How do you buy your socks? Do you buy them one pair at a time? Or do you buy a multi-pack? Only white socks? Colored socks? Crew? Knee-highs? And lastly, where in the world do your socks go when you wash them? It never fails that I'll put four pairs of black socks in my dark load of laundry and only seven socks will come out of the dryer. Where does that blasted sock go?

I buy a six-pack of No Nonsense white crew socks that I use for walking. When I need casual socks for work or when I'm wearing jeans, I buy a six-pack of Gold Toe black crew socks. I do have a couple pairs of really nice colored socks, but honestly, they don't seem to be worth the money. I usually end up putting a hole in the toe seam of the socks, and it's not that my toenails are overly long. When I lose a white sock or a black sock, I keep the remaining sock and use it with another one of the same color. Then when I get down to about three pairs of socks (whatever color), then I go out and buy another six-pack or two. I guess I tend to stay pretty much with crew socks.

I'm extremely hard on socks, so I always buy multi-packs of knee socks for cooler weather and crew socks for warm weather. Hubby had to wear white socks for work for decades, so I never got white ones for myself, and now that he's retired I tell him not to dare buy white socks again.

I have sock issues. :lol3: Socks are categorized around here. I have black and grey ones that I wear with shoes. I will normally buy those in packs. Then there are athletic socks to wear with sneakers. Those are also bought in packs. I have "around the house" socks. These are more decorative and fun socks. Those are normally bought in single pairs. The softest, warmest and fluffiest are "bed socks" that I wear to sleep. Once they start to get old, they are demoted to "around the house" socks. These are also bought by the pair.

Socks are bought singly or in a 2 pack. White for warm weather. Black or grey ankle or knee high for winter. Around the house light colored fleece. Socks don't "get lost" if they stay out of the clothes dryer.

I try to buy multipacks. I prefer white socks but I'm ok with socks that are mostly white with the toe and / or heel in a color or have a small design. In the summer I wear quarter length socks and in the colder months I wear calf lenght socks or knee high boot socks. I never havve a problem with socks disappearing in the wash

What do you do with unwearable socks that have holes and rips? I have a huge bag full. The fabric is good for upcycling craft projects to make cat toys with or maybe as a sleeve to protect a phone or iPod  from scratches in a bag or slipped over a chair leg to prevent scratches on floors, sock puppets for kids, etc. I've offered them on FreeCycle several times but no one is interested.

I buy socks in multi packs.  I like to have several in the same color / pattern so when one is missing / has a hole, I still can use the other.

In the warm weather I wear ankle / crew socks.  If I am in shorts, my socks match my shirt.  In cool weather I wear knee highs if I am going out. Those are in dark colors: black and navy blue mostly. If I am going to the Y to exercise, well, I have shorts under the pants so ankle / crew socks.

Once I 'graduated' from an agitator washing machine to a high efficiency machine, socks stopped going awol.  AND my high efficiency is a top loader, not a front loader.

LTS3, you can make a pet bed and use those socks you have!  It is quick and easy to make one.

First select a fleece fabric in a pattern you like.  Cut 2 pieces the same size - round, oval, square.  Pick the size of a chair where your pets gather, or a cat perch (be sure it is one with raised sides so the cat doesn't fall off).

Then make 3” long cuts along the edges of the fleece, making strips about 1” wide. Work your way around the edges until you come back to where you started. Next, take a pair of the fleece strips and tie them into a double knot (or square knot). Tie off your fleece strips along 3 of the sides of the pet bed.

When you have a small section about 4 to 6 inches left to tie, put in the stuffing.  Then finish the section you have open.

I've made several of these over the years.  Easy to toss in the wash.  Just be sure you don't put dark socks inside a light fabric, you don't want the color to bleed through.

You can also donate them to your local shelter!

I buy Gold Toe black ankle socks in bulk.  Finding the right one is tough now, because there are several that look like each other but, they feel different. I need light weight socks all year round.

I also like soft fuzzy socks for the house. I'm more flexible about color for those.  Hot pink, stripes, patterns, whatever. Just as long as they are really soft to the touch.

Since most of my socks are black, I just throw them into the drawer and let them land where they want to

I wear white ankle socks all year round, since I live in tennis shoes.  I have colored but rarely wear them. In fact I just threw a bunch out.  I have to wear suede slippers around the house, I vacuum daily but I know if I wore fuzzy socks they would be ten times fuzzier from all teh cat hair! I cringe when my grandson rolls around on the floor!

I buy six packs of white socks. I always buy the same brand, "Fruit of the Loom." I just buy the cheap stuff because I wear them out quickly.

I buy white crew socks in packs to wear with sports shoes, but don't wear many socks in the summer. I wear light-weight colored socks in the winter and buy those individually or in three-packs.

Socks disappear when they get caught in the corner of a fitted sheet or stick to other clothes with static electricity. I just put the odd sock aside and eventually its mate turns up.

i buy crew height socks, white (sometimes have the grey toe and heel parts), and i buy them in multi-packs. i usually buy either fruit of the loom or hanes, whichever has more socks and/or the lower price. while i'm very hard on shoes, i seem to be about average on my socks. i rarely walk around the house in my sock feet; it's either socks in winter slippers, or bare feet in flip flops. i do allocate my older socks and those with holes in them or ground in dirt, to outdoors use only -- lawn mowing, stacking/moving/trimming down firewood, working in the gardens, and assorted projects.

i'll have to wait and see if i lose any socks in the new washer -- high efficiency, and front loader. in fact, my new washer/dryer are stackable (and are stacked), full-sized machines.

I buy the same as you. Got a free gift from Fleet Feet where I buy my sneakers of a pair of socks worth $15. Ridiculous. No different than my Hanes socks.

For work I usually wear colored socks in black, gray or navy blue.  But I need a good quality white sock for running/walking and exercise class.  I wear knee socks with my boots.  And my favorite socks for the frigid, cold weather are "Smartwool,"  my daughter turned me on to them but they're a little pricey so I have to buy them when they're on sale.

I like no-show running socks (even for not running). Usually buy multi-packs of them. I like black crew socks during the week for work (I just can't do trouser socks).

I mostly wear Smartwool socks in the winter, too. I have a couple pairs of the really really thick Smartwool socks. They are expensive but well worth the toasty warm toes on a freezing cold day.

I think most of my warm weather socks are Tek Gear and there are some miscellaneous cotton socks with cat designs

My hands and feet get cold very easily and living in the midwest I've learned how to dress for temps below 0.  Smartwool socks are worth their weight in gold!  They also hold up in the washing machine well and never lose their shape. My feet are never cold when I wear them.

My DH is a Smartwool fan too.

For myself I have several styles all bought in multipacks.  I prefer no-show socks but since I have big feet I have to make sure I get them in the "extended" size.  My favorite are a soft-spun one I think from Fruit of the Loom.  I also have some in a thinner material for when I wear my sketchers.  I have some ankle socks and a set of crew socks for when its colder out.  I also have some lined wool cabin socks from YakTraks.  They are my favorite around the house in the winter.

I like to be barefoot or only in socks in the house and since I'm a stay-at-home mom that's how you'll find me most of the time.  I used to always wear cute socks with prints or designs on them; but it's gotten harder to find cute things like that for my big feet.  So now it's more about the comfort!

I wash my kids socks in mesh garment bags.  I used to keep the bags on a command hook in each of their bedrooms. But now I just separate them with the laundry.  It helps me not loose socks.  And when we had a front loading washer they'd get sucked into the door rim all the time.  One of my DD's jobs is to go around the house looking for random socks we've kicked off.  She does that while I separate laundry.

Where do you think?
Buy a lot of mine from dollar stores and bargain bins. My socks always either get shredded by my older cat or get stolen by Indy and sucked into the vacuum cleaner.

Wonder why cats are so obsessed with socks and feet.
