cat with open mouth

Hello everyone! About two months ago, a stray cat came into our house and joined my team of stray cats *i basically care for them by giving them food and shelter* and she was all fine byt from two days, i have noticed that she keeps her mouth open. And sometimes there is something coming out of it too like spits and colourless stuff and i have been trying to help her but she just runs away from me. She was a stray so she never truly let me touch her but whenever i used to feed her she would let me pat her a bit but now she runs everytime anyone gets close to her. She also bit my cousin when he tried to check. So problem is that she doesbt let me touch her so i can take her to the vet or even help. She can momentarily close her mouth though. She is also not eating/drinking.


Please suggest something. Also as its cold there is flu among other stray cats i care for but she was unaffected by it so i dont know. Im worried and waiting. Thankyou.

You need to get a humane trap and get her to the vet.  If she is hungry enough she will go into the trap.  I would not try to examine her yourself.  Call ahead to the vet and explain the situation.

You can often borrow traps from the Humane Society, some vets or even friends may have one.  

Could be many things wrong with her from dental problems to heart problems. It's best to get her to a vet. If she is several years old it could be her teeth. I had an outside feral with similar symptoms. If you can't find someone who will give you a trap and you know when she comes around you can cover a pet carrier with a towel and put food or catnip in there and when she goes in there snap the door shut. I took a feral from outside with a similar problem to the vet that way.

Today, i woke up and she was nowhere to be found. Im hoping she is fine and soon comes back home.

It may take some planning with the Vet visit I had to use an ER Vet for the feral I had because I didn't know when he would come around. With mine it was bad dental problems.

If she returns, and you cannot trap her,you can ask a veterinarian for advice - if you can ensure that you can feed her separately, they may give you some medicine to try, to get her strong enough (and more willing) to get TNR'd. No. She has not returned. I pray where ever she is, she is doing fine. Thankyou for the help and concern.

Today has been a relief! She came back to us today [emoji]10084[/emoji] she is doing really better now. She is fed and well and thank you so much for all the help and prayers.

That is great news. I saw this thread earlier in the week and it was very heart breaking.

Seeing your second photo I almost feel that I should go looking for my cat Kitty. Of course I am joking, she is upstairs sleeping.

Great!!! I think it could have been a loose tooth that fell out along the way or it got put back in place. Hopefully it won't happen anymore.
