If you're on a tight budget- The above mentioned Fancy Feast classics flavors are good, and also the Sheba pates in the poultry and beef flavors don't have fish in the ingredients.  They have fish oil listed but I wouldn't count that as fish

Does fish really matter that much ? My dentist used to live in Cambodge and Thailand and he told me they fed their cats almost strictly fish with occasional chicken but never red meat. And he said everybody does it over there as it is much cheaper and available, and cats live normal with no issues. I don't know if mercury is low in these areas, or maybe nobody bothers to check for mercury, who knows, but cats don't seem to have a problem with eating fish only according to him. Also some of the top brands of kibbles  here in North America like Orijen or Acana have fish in all their recipes. So go figure.

Yes, it does. See this: http://www.thecatsite.com/a/can-i-feed-my-cat-a-fish-based-or-fish-flavored-diet

Seafood should be limited to once in awhile meals. The main protein in a cat's diet should be meat. In some countries, meat may  be hard to come by or is unaffordable so that may be why a seafood heavy diet is fed to cats and other pets. One can't really say a seafood only diet results in no health issue. The cat may seem fine just by appearance but interally there may be issues which may not have any outward symptoms.

Some brands of meat based fodo do contain a little seafood. That's generally not a problem.

That article is against homemade fish meals, but it does not mind at all commercial fish flavors. My dentist used to feed raw fish to the cat, I guess that is bad. But according to your article, there is no harm at all  in feeding commercial canned food based on fish. By the way,  I don't feed fish, as I read so many things  (not based on scientific evidence) but don't take a chance.

Well , in the wild I don't think cats ate anything that is offered today by pet food manufacturers like beef, pork, lamb, bison, and some other exotic meats. Maybe at the most a chicken. I would think their meal was composed from mice, insects, birds,  small snakes and things like that, and none of these is offered today as pet food. On the other hand, I've seen some cats in some documentaries catch and eat fish. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to prove that fish is bad or good, (I do not have the competence or scientific knowledge to analyze it)  and as I said I don't feed it to my  own cats, but i could not find scientific evidence that it is bad for the cats, and especially when it is commercially prepared and vitamins added. Now about mercury in fish, it goes the same for human consumption. Eat in moderation.

I don't like fish as a primary protein, but as a supplementry ingredient lower on the list I don't mind, especially if its primarily for flavour purposes. As long as the food is high in meat protein, low in carbs and otherwise balanced, I don't mind feeding something with fish.
That said, I try to limit fish intake, and I find nature's variety to be a pretty solid choice, since they offer a bunch of limited ingredient foods with high content of a single meat. Tucker likes the lamb option.

Yup!  Those are the varieties I purchase since they don't contain fish.  You can get these three flavors individually or in the green 30-count variety pack.
