Susie, who will be two in May has developed quite the habit. As of late, to wake either me or my husband up, she will paw at our faces during sleep (sometimes with claws). I'm talking about crazy times like 4 or 5am.

We feed her twice a day - a quarter can before we leave the house in the morning, and a quarter when we get home from work. It's usually 7am morning and 4:30 evening every day on the dot and I feel that it breaks up the day more for her.

Does anyone have any idea why she's starting this trend? Does she just want to play? Is there anything we can do? We've resorted to closing the door even though we hate to.

My cat did this for a few days, I ignored it and it stopped. I really don't think it has anything to do with food, really. They just find things more interesting when we are up and they want to be entertained.

You could try Jackson Galaxy's method, it's about playing with your cat about 30 minutes before you go to bed and then feeding it. People complain that it doesn't work and sure it doesnIt doesn't work straight away, you have to keep at it.

The vid is called "How to train your cat to let you sleep", if you just put the keywords and "jackson galaxy" into the search field at youtube he will run through the specifics.
