hello new friends.

I'm Rose Rivers, I live on the Isle of Wight, just off the south coast of England, in a very long - full of hiding places - two storey flat with two manic cats.  One's a Burmese, the other is a 'domestic cat' according to the vet. They're house cats of necessity, Burmese need the protection, the 'domestic cat' got himself injured five times in 3 months...the worst being a terrible fight he had with either a bigger cat or an urban fox. The vet wasn't sure but he needed a lot of patching up...

These are rescue cats, we're their fourth home. Fortunately they've settled in well but my questions may well be about keeping house cats happy and content. We do the whole 'growing grass, lots of amusement with boxes and towers, toys of all kinds and a balanced diet' thing, which includes us sharing beds with them, of course but we can always do better if there is better to do for them.  (My daughter shares the cats as well as the home.)

The rest of the time I share responsibility for a second hand shop, a very good one, I am a writer and editor, and a spiritualist, so there is always something to occupy my hours, along with and including cats.

I feel very much like the new cat on the block but am sure that you are the most wonderful bunch imaginable, you have to be, you're all cat lovers!!

Welcome to TCS Rose [emoji]128522[/emoji]!

I think it sounds like you are doing a wonderful job keeping your kitties happy and most importantly, safe indoors. I did find a TCS article (under the tab "articles") which may have some additional suggestions:

What are your cats names? Also, we love photos around here so please feel free to share photos of your furry ones!

Again, welcome and please feel free to participate in any of the threads or always feel free to start your own topic [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Hello Rose Rivers, welcome to TCS :wavey:

Thank you for housing these two kitties and giving them a warm lovinig home  Hopefully the injuries will be healed soon.

What you've done for them now is sure to keep your cats happy and contented. But most of all, shower them with all your loving and have quality play time with them. Though cats at most times play by themselves but nothing beats human interactions.

Feel free to ask questions and do check out all the interesting threads and articles and get to know more cats here and don't forget to post photos of your kitties ;)

Welcome to the Cat Site, roserivers! We really do love pictures and would love to see some of your furbabies, especially the Burmese. I don't have any, but I love them.

thank you for the welcome! I will be dropping in and out of the threads, I posted a few comments earlier today, my shop was quiet (bitterly cold here) so it was a good opportunity.

The cats are Kai, black and white moggie monster and Kit aka Kitkat, of course, the Burmese. I'll sort some pics, I need to take a whole lot more.

I've written the story of how they came to us from the viewpoint of Kai, aka Anonycat, which my publisher has at the moment. He's deciding the best way to market it. In the book Anonycat reveals that I've sussed out their 'rules' for games, where sanctuaries are to escape when being chased, the silly game behind the huge curtains that screen  the window seat, if you imagine 8 ft curtains and one small white paw coming out from beneath the hem to let the other cat know 'I'm here!' if the 'finding' doesn't happen soon enough. They both have white paws, so it's the same whoever's behind the curtains.

Kai and Kit beautiful! It's just fun to see little white paws sticking out and batting in empty air :lol3:
