So I have 2 male cats about 1yr 4months old, they are brothers and I got them at 12 weeks old. But one of my babies Grayson refuses to use the litter box to poop!! He goes right around the litter box area, every ONCE in a while he'll poop in the box. But he with pee in there. They both are fixed, never been abused, they get along perfect, and my fiance and I treat them like Kings of the house! They literally are our babies! It first started around about 6months old and someone asked if I have rearranged any of my furniture cause it can stress them out. And I had rearranged my entire living room, so I went straight home and moved everything single thing back to where it's always been. The next day I come downstairs to poop on the floor again. So I do my research on different litters for long haired cats, and the journey began. Around $1,000 US dollars later and seriously every single litter type and brand you could think of he is STILL at it! We've taken him to about 7 different vets and they have found nothing wrong. I have tried 1 litter box & 2 & 3 and I've also tried all different kinds and sizes but still no improvement. And I know if your angry or stressed it can cause your furry babies to stress an worry so I have kept EXTREMELY calm even still up to this point almost a year later of being on my hands and knees cleaning poop all day! I clean their boxes at least 5 times a day. I change out the litter once a week and scrub the boxes with non scented soaps. So please I beg anyone out there if you know a solution to this please help me we just don't know what to do anymore and getting rid of him is NOT an option!

When he poops on the floor is it near the litter box? Or in a different spot entirely? Is it in the same spot every time?

I hate poop problems!

Have you tried different types of containers? Maybe it's "too small" and his little bum is hanging out an end. I've witnessed my cat do this once or twice. It's like pee in one spot. Move around and poo in another (and maybe off the edge?) What kind of litter boxes have you tried? All pans? Any covered? Maybe the interesting one cats can climb down into? Can you physically see him in the act? Maybe he's straining?? What's the consistency of the stool? A little too firm (could try a stool softer) or soft (could try a little pumpkin)?

You are a dedicated cat parent I'm impressed! 7 vet visits is no joke. Good luck, maybe others can chime in with more helpful advice.

I know some cats like one of mine won't poop in the same box he pees in. Have you tried different litter boxes on different places?

Along with these excellent questions, have you tried Cat Attract litter? that recently resolved another kitties litter box issue.

Have you observed him pooping?  If so, does he scratch at it or just walk away?

If he's not scratching at it, then it's territory marking.
