Hello! In a week, we are going to bring a two month old cat home with our one year old cat. I am very worried that my cat will urinate on the carpet for territorial reasons, and also that they genuinely get along together. I just wanted to know what tips all you cat owners found best worked for YOU. Another question I have: My hubby works from home and I work from 9-3. We will be getting the cat on my two days off, but I know that isn't enough time to introduce them and get them comfortable obviously. What should we do while he's working? Keep her in her carrier or let her wander the room and play with toys. Because he can't pay attention to her the entire time, I worry it will make the process go by a lot slower than expected. Help!!

The cats will need to be separated for as long as it takes for them to adjust. The new kitten should have its own kitten-proofed room. Two months is also too young to be allowed to wander the house in general. The little one won't make it back to the litter box, and is likely to get hurt.

Is there any chance of the kitten staying with mom and litter mates for a few more weeks?

Look up Jackson Galaxy's cat intro video. Basically, you want to completely separate until there is no reaction from smell. Then you slowly introduce sight. You can do this during feeding time to associate the new cat with tasty things.

This could take weeks. Follow your older cat's lead 100%. Is your older cat fixed?
