I goofed! I goofed bad.

I switched from Orijen to Fancy Feast classic overnight. I know better...so I'm peeved at myself. Especially in retrospect, going from a food like Orijen that is grain free to Fancy Feast.

Two of the three cats are doing fine. The one that has the runny poop is acting normal. She isn't having any accidents. She makes it to the litter box and is as playful and snugly as ever. To make things worse, she is a long hair so the poor girl gets it in her butt fur. (As a side note, does wet food make stool softer than hard food?) What is the best way to fix this? I'm assuming going back to the dry food she was eating and switching her over slowly would just cause problems.

This has been going on and off for two weeks now. Sometimes it is solid, sometimes it is runny. I feel horrible!

Any suggestions? Thanks!!!

Going from kibble to wet food doesn't usually cause digestive issues, but anything is possible. Are you feeding the fancy feast classic? Might be better to start with one meal wet 1-2 meals kibble and then slowly wean out the kibble.

When I first got my boy I was feeding canned with a side of kibble for in between meals if he was hungry. Then switched him overnight to 'script canned, no more kibble at all. Thru all this he has always had formed poos, even switching brands didn't bring on puddin poo or the big D.

So I'm wondering, is it possible that there is an ingredient in the canned that is upsetting his tummy? MizM is really on top of this stuff, I'd try her suggestion and see if this doesn't resolve.

I'm feeding Fancy Feast classic now, but still have some of the older food. I have an appointment for tomorrow evening with the vet.

She is acting 100% normal, which makes me feel better. But when I came home today there were little poop splashes all over the wall and the litter box was WRECKED.

My plan now is to just get her back on the kibble for tonight, tomorrow morning, and talk to the vet to see if it is anything else.

How about mixing a few pieces of kibble in with the wet food?

I agree that it might be an ingredient in the fancy feast that she is intolerant to.  What flavor(s) of it have you fed her? And which variety of Orijen was she eating? Has she had any issues like this before in the past while just on the Oriijen?
