when to let Rascal out again?

Rascal has been attacked and bitten (probably by a raccoon) in December. The vet missed most of the bite wounds at first
Now all the surgery has healed nicely, skin has grown back and hair is starting to grow back. His front legs still have some muscle tremor that is getting better with time. He is moving as he has been before, and very eager to get outside again. In fact he is - understandably - getting increasingly aggressive with his outside wishes denied.

Any thoughts about a half-shaved cat enjoying the outsides in California?

Link just got out after his most recent (mis)adventure on December 12th. He enjoyed a good chunk of Saturday out but with the rain back he has been spending time mostly running from one door to the other demanding in or out.

I was looking for no signs of a limp/weakness. Figuring that I didn't want any muscle weakness contributing to him getting injured again. So I would wait for the tremor to go away in your case. As to fur length, Link has enough regrowth that I can't see skin (except the quarter spot where he got shaved for the spider bite). He doesn't seem to mind the cold or the rain other than darting between doors, running in, going back out the cat door and darting to another door. Although that may be more of "I can go in..... and I can go out.... I can go in.... and I can go out" than warming up sessions. I should point out that all my cats usually stay close to home when people are home. Link usually is found on the patio furniture. This time of year they tend to spend more time indoors cuddled up in a fur pile.

Link does have a curfew and isn't staying out after dark anymore. He's adjusted to that fairly easy after his confinement. He woke me up with kitty snoring last night and tried to push me off my bed.

good to know Link is up and about again!

Rascal's tremor is nearly gone, now I have to hold him and wait for him to settle down to feel it. Unfortunately, he doesn't want to be held, so he rarely settles down unless he is sleepy.

He escaped yesterday, figured out it was raining
, and came back all wet after an hour. He usually stays in a two-block area, either in my or my sister's yard.

@Primula  I'd love to keep him inside but he gets terribly aggressive when he is feeling well and locked in  - so I'm glad to have his old self back, but he is attacking any target from other cats innocently standing by to my ankles, and I'm at a point to be wary when wearing short pants

Sounds like it is more of when you are comfortable at this point. I'd say if you are questioning it now give him one more week inside and then let him out. Just to make sure he is fully healed up. Plus I like waiting until Saturdays so I am home and can keep an eye on him as he comes in and out.

If you want him to live a full life I wouldnt let him out again.  There are good cat enclosures including catfencein.com
