Mucus plugs in otherwise normal stools?

My apologies in advance for a rather detailed description of my cat's poo.
When I went to scoop the litterbox just now, I noticed Stewie had left a fairly recent stool. It was mostly normal in size and consistency, except for a small quarter inch gel/mucus-like cap on one end of it. It looked like the stool had a grayish-white tip to it, but this portion of his stool appeared to be entirely composed of mucus. It separated relatively easily from the rest of the stool when I was using a q-tip to investigate further, and had the tiniest hint of blood (a drop). It was thick and kind of stretchy, maybe because the mucus wasn't fresh. Has anyone else experienced a cat with mucus plugs in their stools on occasion? I figure he might just have a touch of upset colon or the like, and I'm not overly concerned, but it was a strange find. It could be that he's experienced these before and theyve just been dried out by the time I go to scoop the litter.

Thanks in advance for any feedback you can offer, and for your willingness to discuss poop with me. [emoji]128517[/emoji]

Assuming he's an indoor cat and doesnt get at mice it seems unlikely to be a parasite although technically it could be.  It could also be an irritated intestinal lining, maybe something he ate..... if it recurred i'd bring a sample to the vet.

If it becomes a recurring issue I'll definitely be taking a fecal sample. He's indoor only, but it's not impossible for me to have maybe brought in parasites on my shoes or something. We do see some outdoor neighborhood cats around here and they're not shy about lounging near the shrubs in our yard. I might've inadvertently tracked something in. Thank you for your reply! :thanks:

Hi! My cat just did some thi g really similar.
Most of the poop looked really regular and normal, but there was a small casing/tip of mucus surrounding carrot bits *from his canned food*

Did anything ever come of it?
