Hi, I took my 5 month old kitten to the vet yesterday to get neutered. Later after I had dropped him off at the clinic I got a call from one of the vet techs informing me that my cat was a cryptorchid, meaning he had an undescended testicle. He said they had to cut open his abdomen to locate one of his testicles. When I got to the clinic, the vet told me they could not locate his other testicle. He said it's either my cat had only one, of which they had already removed, or another one that they did not find. I am worried that he might have another one and that he would have to go through another surgery. The vet who did the surgery was a very good doctor and has been fixing cats for a very long time. Any insights on this? Has anyone had such experience with their cats? Let me know

My cat has both testicles undescended. The vet did an ultrasound to find exactly where they were before the surgery. Maybe you can ask your vet about doing something like this with your cat? Someone mentioned on this forum that this can be very expensive, however, so keep that in mind. For us that was not the case, but I guess it also depends on the clinic and pricing variation between countries. I don't see the harm in asking if it is even an option in your case and how much it would cost if so, and making a decision from there.
