Gwenny needs your help. She has infected, bleeding gums and four teeth that need immediate extraction. I am not a man of significant means and have set up a crowdfunding page for her medical care. Anything over the cost of her care will be donated to the local non-profit - Shakespeare Animal Fund - to help others who cannot afford emergency care for their fluffy or furry family members.

MOD NOTE:

To all members, a reminder that it is YOUR responsibility to check out these solicitors to the best of your ability. Ask for references, phone numbers, call around the area and find out if this is a legitimate cause or a scam. Thecatsite.com does not stand behind any solicitation of funds for any reason that appear in the forums unless explicitly authorized. Be very careful before you send any money.

Please note that this is a generic note added after all pleas for money.

In my haste to post this on a - to me at least - brand new website message board, it didn't even occur to me to offer anything more substantial than the request itself.

My name is Brent Wilbur. I live in Reno, Nevada. I can be found on minds.com, facebook, and google+ under that name. On all of those pages are a copy of the same petition for funds linking to Gwenny's gofundme page. It also didn't even occur to me to check and see if it was okay to post such a petition here, so I apologize for my presumption and appreciate greatly the fact that it was not simply axed. I'm not sure what else any of you might require to legitimize my request, but no reasonable demand for substantiation will be denied.

Thank you.

I tried posting a gofundme for my cat  so he could get help with medical treatment but they have to review the post because it contains the gofundme link. Did this happen with your post as well? Also do you have any ideas where I can advertise the link. I have posted to Twitter, Facebook, and hundreds of  animal pages on Facebook. I just started the gofundme yesterday but not one donation for him yet. How long did it take you to start receiving donations for your kitty? Any tips are highly appreciated. Thank You.

I did a search for local non profits and found a couple in my area. I contacted them and they offered to post links to my gofundme on their various social media pages. It took a couple days before people started donating, but donations ultimately only accounted for less than 50% of the total bill. The rest had to be paid by opening a credit line with Care Credit. Some non-profits will require you to apply for Care Credit before they will consider your request.
