Hi y'all. I brought DSH la crème home this past Monday. She was sick with URI so off to the vet Tues am. She feels much better now and looks better too since we also knocked down fleas, mites and cocccidia. She's approximately 9 weeks and weighed 2 lbs. A lovely color but I must admit, after much reading, I'm stymied on how to put all the words together to describe her coloration. So here are some pics and I hope y'all will chime in. Her littermates were 1 tabby and white, one tabby tortie, and one black. I believe her mother was a red or Crème colorpoint.

Got it:clap:her tail is two tone as well but I don't have a good photo in natural light yet. Since she was feral she's not taking kindly to be turned over on her belly since she's feeling better. She's on her way to being a sweetheart though! I'm smitten!:heart3::heart3::heart3:

She is very obviously a point ("siamese-mix"), but what to do with the rest`  Probably she is a tortie point,  so diluted tortie point

Possibly she has also the tabby thrown in for good measure.  We will see when she darkens up, if the tabby stirpes are on the grey parts too, or if they are only on the red.   If only on the red, we pretend we dont see them on torties.

StefanZ StefanZ thank you for your reply. So, is she a blue cream with tortie points then? Or do you only describe the points but not the body color?

Her sweet little face is split when I closely examine her. One side seems red and the other side seems tabby with the M scrunched up on the left side. She does have some tabby markings on her coat already.

Her ears have a pinky gray appearance like a lilac but she also seems shaded. All those terms I read about - torbie, lynx, etc. and hints like white in the ears and spotted pads swim in my head and are like a puzzle. I wasn't sure what fits and what doesn't.:lol3:

I am just a curious leaner and want to know what to have the vet put down on her record. Sort of OCD that way. No matter her color, it's her personality that's sort of spicy right now. Perhaps it's all the medicine I'm poking at her!

She is blue and creme because she is diluted tortie.   You CAN say it all out to make it easier for persons whom dont know much, but for the more knowleable diluted tortie point is most proper.

If she is visibly a tabby too, the tortie will be called for torbie instead.   Or tortie and tabby, which you prefer.   And if there are white spots clearly visible, you will add "with white" or mitted.   Bewildering?  In part because different associations use partly different language, that is why.

The natural color of a point is this yellowish beige color, you know.   Other colorations are because of the extra coloration, alike the white spots.

Your vet?   Perhaps; domestic shorthair, diluted tortie and tabby point with white.

Diluted tortie point  is the most important, I think.  Or creme and blue tortie point.   Or even creme and blue tortie siamese mix....

The cream refers to the "light red" parts, not the pale body color. :-) Cream in cats is the Dilute of red/orange tabby.

She is a Blue-Cream(dilute) Tortoiseshell, Lynx(tabby) Point.

So on vet records, I would put:

Dilute Tortoiseshell Lynx Point, Domestic Shorthair.

Thank you StefanZ StefanZ and kkoerner kkoerner for your color guidance! I feel like I understand better now why there are so many choices. It will be interesting to see her coat mature. I think she is quite pretty, but I remind her daily that pretty is as pretty does. And she responds to quit putting those drops in my eyes and I'll be better behaved! :high5:
