My male cat (not neutured) is completely litter box trained. However recently he has been peeing on clothes and towels. Why is he doing this? Would it help to get him neutered? And what can get the cat smell out of the carpet? Any advice is appreciated? I really don't want to have to put him outside

He's spraying to mark his territory, which is typical in intact mature male cats, so I definitely recommend scheduling that neutering appointment! Usually that reducing marking issues considerably within a few weeks to a couple of months (it takes time for all of the hormones to leave his system). For cleaning, use an enzymatic cleaner like Nature's Miracle that will break down the urine chemicals, which will degrade the urine chemicals so he won't recognize the area as a marking spot.

The best enzymatic cleaner I've ever found is called Just Rite, can only order it online at www.123odorfreekit.com; I've tried others from Petco and Petsmart and this has been my favorite!

We've had dogs and multiple cats. Had very good results with 2 products, locally available and half the cost of Just Rite.

"Urine Gone" 10.00 carried by Drug stores, and OdoBan. Home Depot carries it. It comes in gallon size concentrate for 9.00, can be used straight, but best at a 10-1 dilute.
