Good morning from a new member with 2 new kittens. Having gone without a cat for a number of years due to fostering dogs (Jack Russells and English Shepherds) we, just this week, took 2 girl kittens from a horse barn because our barn is being overrun with mice. Please don't flame me as our cats will be responsibly cared for and will hunt for sport. I understand the song bird issue but I hope with plenty off good food and love they won't resort to that. And perhaps the mice will move on to safer pastures. We live well off the road and the cats will live in the heated barn office as their bedroom.

Sissy is an older kitten, a black and white tuxedo. Crème is quite striking in color and I will post her photos under a new thread so I can have your assistance in naming her coloration. We live in in central North Carolina USA. I have to say finding this site this past Tuesday after the kittens arrived was a salve to my mental health knowing what was coming yesterday. I look forward to my time here and interacting as my schedule permits. I was a vet tech many years ago and will enjoy updating some of my knowledge through this peer group.

Welcome to TCS Creme :wavey:

Glad that you adopted the kittens and glad you found us.

You can post your kittens photos here as well as in the thread Describing Cat's under Cat Breed, breeding and Showing.

Do share your experiences with us too ;)

I agree probably umbilical I was hoping to have her spayed at low cost mobile clinic but I'm not sure they do anything more than routine. So maybe I should buy insurance for her. She starting out high maintenance and diva like for a barn kitty. Lol

Yes, I named her Crème for her light color but I don't think she's really a cream, but maybe so. I look forward to a discussion on my other posting under what breed, in her case color, is she.

It is strange that the first Vet missed it, then.

Not sure about all the things they can do in a low cost mobile clinic, but it's worth calling them up and asking.

Calling up more than one Vet is always a good idea, since prices seem to vary widely, but I guess it depends upon where you live, and how far you have to travel to get there, too.

Check out the insurance policies closely, and compare the premiums paid, to that which you can monthly put aside for any 'cat-related costs' as well.

Sometimes having a savings account/money put aside for our cats, works out to be beneficial for emergencies, ...(though I should really look into insurance, too, since I have 3 cats and a dog.)

Well, starting off 'high maintenance and diva like for a barn kitty', will make her love you more, and want to impress you, with all her so called "presents" in the rodent form.

I'm sure she'll either hunt like mad, or train her sister to do all the work.

(We had adopted our rainbow tuxedo cat Spotty, from the neighbours, and he was so grateful, that he rounded up mice in the summer on a somewhat weekly basis, from the empty field next door, and this was in the suburbs. Our other cat at the time, Braxton, who was his best friend, did not bring 'presents' so often. I think he figured it was too much work. )

Sending positive vibes that Creme...does become the 'Creme de la Creme' like your thread title says.

and gets to feeling all better and healed up, fast.

Good news! The mobile clinic only charges $15 extra for hernia repair at time of spay. Since we have lots of animal dependents every penny counts. But how do you pay $56 for an initial kitten exam and miss a hernia.:soap:
