Can you get her to a vet? If it's mastitis she'll need an antibiotic.
I can yes, well, as it's Sunday it will be emergency only, almost £100 just for a consultation, so if and only if I can, I'm going to take her first thing Monday!

It's only happened today, up until tonight she was absolutely fine! I feel so sad for her, the babies are big and chunky and their little nAils are sharp, so it's no wonder she's gotten sore!

Is there any advice anyone can give to help see her through until Monday morning?

Just to be clear, if she gets any worse I will take her regardless x

I think she can wait until Monday morning if she continues to act as if she feels ok.  Eating, drinking, using the litter box, interacting with the kittens, etc.  You can use a warm compress on the nipple to help until you get to the vet.

Hey I hope she's ok, loved reading your story and seeing the photos!!

I just had a question if you don't mind. What happened to the 4th kitten the vet said they saw on the ultrasound? I'm asking as we are hoping to have one litter of kittens too and been reading up about it xxx

Do you mean you are planning to breed your girl once?  Please consider fostering a mom in need first.  Pregnancy and delivery can be deadly.  There are plenty of threads on this forum where things have gone wrong with either kittens or mom.  Fostering will allow you to help a family in need while getting some experience.

Is your cat from a breeder?  If not, you will have trouble finding a health tested male to meet with her.  Anything other than this option is risking her health.

Thank you talkingpeanut!

She is eating and acting perfectly fine, other than it's quite obviously a bit sore! I'll do the warm compress, any particular advice on what to use etc!

Sorry I'm such a novice :( x

Just a warm, damp cloth!  A washcloth is fine.  If she is looking chapped you can continue to use coconut oil or udder balm too.

Thank you! And I've no idea sunshineclare,

All I can presume is the lady must've been wrong? She did say three at first and then wen to it say it appeared to be four!

Only three though, but I guess it's difficult to be certain via ultrasound x

Silly question, but can I use coconut oil, that I would use to cook with (I have a new jar in the cupboard) x

talking peanut, we have a pure bred little boy Maine coon and a pure bred little girl, from completely different people, we are being super careful with them and not letting them out much. I'll start a new thread as this is Ashley's one! We don't intend on breeding them with any cats except themselves and are not totally sure if we even will, that's why I'm reading all about the complications and potential issues first [emoji]128578[/emoji] You guys give great advice [emoji]128578[/emoji]

Ashley, such sweet photos, so glad they're doing ok! Ok that makes sense yes I guess ultrasound isn't perfect! You're doing really well for them xxx

Quick update,

Took Lilly and babies to the vets on Monday,

The vet said isn't not mastitis but her nipple was sore from little teeth, warm water to clean and carry on coconut oil, see how she gets on. She also said I should start trying to introduce them to weaning, she said they're very big and chunky, and more than strong enough to try and start the weaning process, this in turn helps mummy cats nipples get better.

So far so good, her nipples are a lot better, and she's happy feeding them again. We made a blended milk and pouch paste for the kittens to try, they've had a little here and they're, one showed more interest than the others!

Anyway, I wanted to give them the absolute best most nutritious food I could, so I chose a different brand to what Lilly usually has, I noticed Lilly eating the kittens food yesterday, and today she had diarrhoea! Is this because she's eaten food she's not used to?

I think I'll have to keep them all on the same brand to prevent it happening again!

Other than that they are all amazing, all three babies have sprung to life, they've been playing and interacting with each other so much, their little characters are really blossoming [emoji]128525[/emoji]

Sudden food changes can cause diarrhea, so keeping them on the same food is best. [emoji]128522[/emoji]

So the kittens are now leaving the nest and wandering! What can I do to keep them safe? I don't have a specific room in my house that I can dedicate to them and make kitten proof!

I'm worried they'll get hurt or trapped! I literally haven't slept for two nights [emoji]128553[/emoji]

In a positive note, there's been no more diarrhoea x
